Hi everybody.
I’m trying to build an application using CakePHP 5.x and I’m having trouble. I’m getting a lot of error messages, such as:

“Could not find package cakephp/app with stability stable.”

using command:
composer self-update && composer create-project --prefer-dist cakephp/app:5.* cms,
return… " Could not find package cakephp/app with version 5.*."

Can anyone help me?

Just remove the version constraint:

# as of today it gives you 5.1.2
composer create-project --prefer-dist cakephp/app  cms

And if you really want to put a version constraint in

composer create-project --prefer-dist cakephp/app=^5.1.2  cms

And if you want to upgrade to the latest cakephp (5.2.5)

cd cms
composer require cakephp/cakephp:^5.2

Make sure you use composer v2 since composer v1 is EOL.

composer self-update --2

then execute the command again AND show us the output from that command

I’m back!!! tank you

Tank you bat not worked…

d:\xampp12\htdocs>composer create-project --prefer-dist cakephp/app cms
Creating a “cakephp/app” project at “./cms”

In CreateProjectCommand.php line 430:

Could not find package cakephp/app with stability stable.

create-project [-s|–stability STABILITY] [–prefer-source] [–prefer-dist] [–prefer-install PREFER-INSTALL] [–repository REPOSITORY] [–repository-url REPOSITORY-URL] [–add-repository] [–dev] [–no-dev] [–no-custom-installers] [–no-scripts] [–no-progress] [–no-secure-http] [–keep-vcs] [–remove-vcs] [–no-install] [–no-audit] [–audit-format AUDIT-FORMAT] [–ignore-platform-req IGNORE-PLATFORM-REQ] [–ignore-platform-reqs] [–ask] [–] [ [ ]]

It works just fine. At least on my Linux Mint.
Maybe dont run it on Windows directly, but in some form of more useful powershell :slight_smile:

Your composer is borked somehow. That error makes no sense as cakephp/app has years worth of stable releases.
