Hi There.

The documentation states that only pinhole camera supports rendering of Nurec (gaussian splat).

Will there be support for omniDirectionalStereo in the near future?

I really need this =)

Is there another way to solve this?

Best Regards,

Kim

Hello @ktc and welcome to the NVIDIA developer forums.

I think your question might be better asked in the Omniverse forums, since NuRec is part of the OV offerings.

And as it happens there was an Office Hours livestream on the OV Discord server that discussed NuRec and Isaac Sim.

That might also be a good source of information.

Thanks!

Ok sorry this was my first post =) I will move the question!

Thanks for the suggestion!

Best regards,
Kim

No worries!

And I did already move it for you :-)

Awesome thanks =)

Thanks for raising this feature request regarding omniDirectionalStereo support for NuRec rendering. Out of curiosity, could you share a bit more about your use case or the primary reason you need omniDirectionalStereo support? Understanding the workflow or end application you’re targeting helps us better prioritize and shape future improvements.

Looking forward to your insights!

Hi, thanks for reaching out =)

I’m working in ArchViz and using 3D Gaussian Splats to represent the existing environment. I convert my .ply files using the GRUT USD converter (NuRec field) and then place my digital building models into the 3DGS scene. From there, I create stereo equirectangular images and videos — something I’ve been doing in Unreal Engine 5.6 using a 360 Camera plugin.

I’ve also developed an app for the Apple Vision Pro to present these 360° stereo images and movies.

The thing is — the 3D Gaussian Splats look so much better in Omniverse (USD Composer) with RTX Realtime 2.0. The quality of the new real-time renderer is absolutely stunning — far beyond what I can achieve with Lumen in Unreal!

However, I’ve run into a problem:
The 3DGS doesn’t render when the camera is set to OmnidirectionalStereo mode. It only appears with Pinhole or Fisheye Polynomial camera types. For my workflow, I really need OmnidirectionalStereo support.

From what I understand, the NuRec object is rendered through a different pipeline than traditional mesh geometry, which might explain why it doesn’t show up.

I’d love to see this functionality added — or if there’s already another way to achieve this, I’d be very grateful for your guidance!

Thanks so much in advance for your help and for all the amazing work you’re doing with Omniverse.

Kim

Any news here? =)

Thanks in advance!
