I work to remove barriers for people with disabilities in digital and physical spaces. I've spent over 15 years working in accessibility, User Experience (UX) and front-end development—and yes, I do love em dashes, it's not fair that Artificial Intelligence (AI) stole their spotlight! More recently, I've been exploring how AI fits into accessibility and inclusive design. I've been fortunate to do this work at companies like TikTok, GitHub and Meta.
The best part of this work is hearing from friends, family and users about how removing a barrier allowed them to interact with or experience something they couldn't before. That impact keeps me going. I focus on building programs, creating inclusive solutions with emerging technology and helping teams understand that accessibility shouldn't be an afterthought and that people aren't checkboxes.
Beyond work, I'm obsessed with music, love watching movies and reading science fiction and fantasy, and I'm happiest when I'm outdoors—hiking, kayaking or traveling. I've visited 42 out of 50 states and 13 countries so far, with plenty more on the list. I love learning and immersing myself in new cultures—that and nature are the best parts of traveling for me.
On the work side, I'm always learning and keeping up with accessibility standards, laws and what people are doing in the accessibility and open source communities. I'm also constantly refining how I communicate accessibility concepts to different audiences.
I love collaborating and partnering with people on accessibility projects and inclusive design challenges. If you're learning about accessibility or just want to chat, feel free to reach out.
My background spans user research, user testing, front-end development, photography, videography, video editing and audio engineering. I've been lucky to wear many hats throughout my career, working multiple jobs and contracts that let me explore different creative and technical disciplines.
