Context

Users who don't have git installed get an overloaded welcome view in SCM. Given that they are exploring VS Code, we can support them in their discovery by a) explaining source control and b) guiding them towards setup.

Potential improvements

• Cut out non-working buttons and focus on beginner-friendly intro
• Use themed SVGs to visualize benefits of SCM (tracking changes, commits in timeline)
• OS-specific links and installation flows
• Silent one-click install using CLI commands (winget for windows, git/brew for macOS)
• Potentially based on new walkthroughs for language extensions
• Keep exploring and learning …
