A Paedophile In My Family: Surviving Dad is on Netflix, having originally aired on Channel 4 in 2023.

The harrowing documentary tells the story of Emily Victoria, who was sexually abused by her father from when she was just two years old, until she was 17.

Emily waived her right to anonymity as she confronted those who failed to spot the signs of abuse as part of the documentary.

Growing up in a remote village in Dorset with two brothers, she was molested by her father until she left home as a young teen.

In 2009, she reported the abuse to the police, saying she "didn't consider telling anyone anything" until she was about 17.

Her father was arrested and sentenced to 14 years in prison, with his daughter attempting to meet him following his release.

However, he rejected her offer, to which she said: "I wasn't surprised. He's been a coward his whole life. But I think there's potential to have that conversation with him in future."

She said the documentary has helped her "release" some of the shame, but admitted she "has bad days".

She shared: "I have lost that feeling of shame which was implanted in my brain at a young age, and that you carry with you, even if your adult brain knows you are not at fault. I now feel free of the past."

Now in her mid-30s, she is a mother of one and has continued to raise awareness for survivors of sexual abuse.

Earlier in 2025, she joined forces with the NSPCC at a Voices for Change event to speak about how at-risk children need urgent support.

She told Channel 4 she has "focused [her] efforts on questioning why child sexual abuse goes unmissed and how we can stop it from happening in the future".

She added: "By talking openly in meaningful dialogue and supporting ongoing initiatives, like those of the NSPCC, we can create change and influence policy. I want to ensure others know there is help available when they need it the most."

Emily went on to appear at a recent Power Summit event for a chat with founder Perry Power.
