September highlights!
The month began with me traveling to Chicago (such a beautiful city)for DjangoCon US where I had the honor of co-chairing volunteers for the second time. There's something special about being surrounded by a community that shares your passion, and every year, this experience reminds me why I fell in love with Django in the first place. But this year brought an even more exciting surprise – I received the incredible news that I've been nominated as a Django Software Foundation member! I'm still processing this honor and can't wait to serve the community that has shaped so much of my journey.
Shortly after returning home, on September 24th, I found myself at United States International University - Africa presenting research I'm truly proud of: "The Evolving Digital Landscape in Kenya: AI, Governance, and Social Media Transformation." This work, published in the Journal of Digital Society in collaboration with ISSM, wouldn't have been possible without the guidance of my lecturer, Dr. Joshua. Meeting Martin Emmer from the Journal of Digital Society and discussing the future of digital transformation in Kenya was an experience I'll cherish.
Just two days later, on September 26-27, we gathered for our 4th Pycon Kenya, and what a success it was! Seeing the Python community come together – the sponsors who believed in our vision, the speakers who shared their knowledge, and every attendee who brought their energy – filled me with pride. DEFNA generously provided Django stickers, and I was able to share some swag from my Montreal trip- United States PostgreSQL Association, which added an extra spark to the event.
Every conversation, every collaboration, every moment of learning has reinforced my commitment to building stronger tech communities. I'm excited about what lies ahead and the partnerships we'll forge together.
Here's to continued growth and collaboration!
