Michigan's startup scene is on fire. Since we have the largest portfolio in the state, we get to see so many great things as they're happening. Here's a look into some of the headlines coming out of our portfolio ❤️ 🧤 🚀 💸 Akadeum Life Sciences, Inc. recently closed a $20M+ round to scale commercial operations and support customers entering clinical trials. 📡 ATLAS Space Operations, Inc. announced their acquisition by the parent company of York Space Systems LLC. Great company, great acquisition, and they'll be growing up in Traverse City. 🚁 blueflite and Airspace Link, Inc. have partnered together to enable a new aerial logistics network that's secure, autonomous, and built in America. Love to see portfolio companies supporting each other! 🔬 Genomenon, Inc partnered with UCB to curate and classify all published TK2 gene variants, making them freely available to the global clinical research community. 🛰️ Kall Morris Inc was accepted into the inaugural Orbital Edge Accelerator in partnership with the ISS National Lab. Hoping we get to see them back on the ISS again soon! 💺 Promethient, Inc. announced their $1M raise - and also installed their seat heating AND cooling technology at Comerica Park's Home Plate Club. 🧤 Syncurrent partnered with the Michigan Municipal League to launch an AI-powered grant funding system for Michigan's municipalities, nonprofits, tribal governments, and other community organizations. ⚡ Takanock, LLC announced a whopping $500M commitment to address the critical power challenges facing data centers in the age of AI. 🤖 Vetr Health and CircNova, Inc were accepted into Google's AI for Infrastructure cohort (along with 2 other Michigan-based companies, more than any other state). And some of our own headlines as well :) 📰 The MSU Research Foundation received $10.6M from the State of Michigan to launch the Michigan Rise Evergreen Fund, investing in pre-seed startups across the state. 📰 We've also launched a $10M new fund with Michigan State University and Henry Ford Health, investing $100,000 - $250,000 in companies focused on digital health, artificial intelligence, medical devices, diagnostics, care delivery and clinical workflows improvement. I had the privilege to speak at the 2025 Khosla Ventures CEO Summit - right after Sam Altman (a tough act to follow). My talk: Growth Lessons that Matter. I shared four critical lessons on building durable, compounding growth, which I’ve seen separate good companies from consequential ones: [1] Fixing weak brand positioning so the story compounds as fast as the product. [2] Measuring product-market fit with retention and PMF scoring, not vanity metrics. [3] Building a multichannel growth engine that scales with time. [4] Recruiting growth leaders who understand system design, not just channels. Grateful to everyone who joined and for the conversations sparked afterward.
