Brutal moment Nicole Kidman was 'blindsided' by Keith Urban as he 'meets younger woman'

As Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban file for divorce, the Mirror takes a look at some of the rumours surrounding the shock split, which has reportedly left A-lister Nicole 'betrayed' and 'blindsided'

Nicole Kidman has reportedly been left "blindsided" by Keith Urban amid their shock divorce, with the country singer said to have already moved with a "younger woman".

The A-List couple, who share daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, stunned fans this week as news broke that their 19-year marriage was over. And further bombshells were to follow.

Nicole, 58, and Keith, 57, have both spoken openly about the strength of their marriage over the years, with Keith having previously described his wife as his "spiritual other half" in a 2012 interview with Australian Women's Weekly.

Sadly, their seemingly unbreakable romance is now over, with an extreme custody plan in place, which means Keith will only see his daughters for just two months of the year.

Court documents, which specified Nicole as the primary parent, were signed by Keith at the end of August. Nicole also signed at the beginning of September. However, Nicole only filed for divorce on September 30, citing "irreconcilable differences".

The Hollywood megastar, who was spotted still wearing her wedding ring at an event mere days before the filing, is understood to have been very "hurt" by the split, which reportedly wasn't what she wanted.

A source told People: "Nicole's hurt and feels betrayed. It's devastating to her. She's shocked". They went on to claim that Nicole "didn't want this and has been fighting to save the marriage."

According to reports, Nicole and Keith, who were last seen publicly together back in June, have been kept apart on account of their respective packed schedules, while an source told the Daily Mail that heartbroken Nicole has been left "blindsided" by the break-up.

The source also spoke of rumours that Keith had already moved on from the relationship with a younger woman who also works in the music industry. They said: 'The rumour is that he's with a younger woman in the business. It's all everyone is talking about. Everyone wants to know who, but so far, that's a mystery.'

While Keith is said to have no interest in a reconciliation, Nicole is reportedly finding the news of Keith moving on so swiftly too difficult to process.

The heartbreaking split marks the end of Nicole's second marriage. The Big Little Lies actress was famously married to fellow silver screen icon Tom Cruise, whom she met in 1989 while filming sports action drama Days of Thunder together.

The following year, on Christmas Eve, the Hollywood golden couple tied the knot in Colorado and went on to welcome two children, Isabella, 32, and Connor, 30.

Shortly before Valentine's Day 2001, it was revealed that the stars, then one of the most famous couples on the planet, were filing for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences".

In 2013, Nicole reflected on where her relationship with Tom went wrong, noting that she'd only been 23 years old when they married. She said: "I was so young. And you know, with no disrespect to what I had with Tom, I've met my great love now. And I really did not know if that was going to happen.

"I wanted it, but I didn't want it for a while, because I didn't want to jump from one relationship to another. I had a lot of time alone, which was really, really good, because I was a child, really, when I got married. And I needed to grow up."

Moulin Rouge! Star Nicole first locked eyes with New Zealander Keith in January 2005, at the G'Day USA Gala, an LA-based event which honours Australians. Although Nicole made her interest clear, it took a few months for Keith to pluck up the courage to get in touch, having initially not believed he had a chance.

Opening up during a 2018 appearance on Aussie talk show Interview, Keith shared: “Somebody had given me her number, and I had it in my pocket for a while. I kept looking at it, thinking, ‘If I call this number, she’s going to answer. I don’t know what [to] say.’ I wasn’t in a very healthy place in my life…I’d never have thought she’d see anything in a guy like me.

"But, at some point, I plucked up the courage to [dial] those numbers, and she answered, and we started talking. And we talked and talked and talked and talked, and it was effortless."

Fortunately for Keith, the feeling was mutual. In June 2005, just a few short months after their first meeting, Nicole realised she'd found the one for her after Keith rocked up outside her apartment on the morning of her 38th birthday, carrying a bunch of gardenia flowers.

In an interview with People magazine, smitten Nicole recalled: "That is when I went, 'This is the man I hope I get to marry'. I believed by that point he was the love of my life."

A wedding in Sydney followed in May 2006, with the likes of Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, and Naomi Watts attending the candlelit ceremony at Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel. After tying the knot, the couple weathered many storms together, with Nicole supporting Keith through his battle with alcohol addiction.

The singer-songwriter checked into rehab in October 2006, not long after their fairytale wedding, with wife Nicole standing by his side through it all. In an October 2007 interview with Vanity Fair, Nicole revealed: "I've learned an enormous amount having a relationship with someone who is in recovery. I'm more than willing to walk it with him. The two of us are very committed to our relationship."

She continued: "We were in a very, very, very bad, painful place, and have managed to step through it, and I hope that gives some people some hope who may be in the same place."

Similarly, Keith was there for Nicole following the loss of her beloved father, Antony, who died suddenly from a heart attack in September 2014.

Speaking with Ellen DeGeneres about this painful time, Nicole later reflected: "He has been so good to me for nine years, but for the last sort of month, which has been a really tough time for me – when you have your partner who just literally carries you through a tough time, he's been amazing to me."

Mere weeks before the split was announced, Oscar winner Nicole shared a sweet social media tribute to Keith to mark their 19th wedding anniversary, complete with a loved-up couple's snap, and the caption, "Happy Anniversary Baby @KeithUrban".

It's understood that, while Nicole has remained at the family home in Nashville with the children, Keith has rented a separate home elsewhere in the Tennessee city.
