Casualty stars Olly Rix and Anna Chell 'hint at engagement' after confirming romance

Casualty stars Olly Rix and Anna Chell, who confirmed their relationship last month, enjoyed a romantic day out on Sunday, with Olly sharing a sweet snap on Instagram

Casualty stars Olly Rix and Anna Chell have hinted at a possible future engagement in a new post after confirming their romance. Former Call the Midwife star Olly joined the BBC medical drama series earlier this year as surgeon Flynn Byron, while Anna plays nurse Jodie Whyte.

Just last month, Olly confirmed his romance with Anna by sharing a photo of himself kissing Anna on the head. "Summer with Anna and Nellie," he wrote as the caption. He also shared a couple of pictures of the duo enjoying a summer vacation with their pet dog called Nellie.

The actor recently took to his Instagram Stories to share a picture of his girlfriend Anna looking away from the camera as they enjoyed a hearty Sunday roast at a cosy restaurant.

Anna looked stunning in a casual cream jumper with her hair tied in a messy bun. She completed the look with earrings and a pendant necklace.

"Eating Sunday roast and wondering if she's free for the next 40 years," he captioned the sweet post, prompting some to wonder if it was a hint at a future engagement. Anna re-posted the photo on her page and added a heart.

Back in June, reports came out about their romance. The co-stars were said to have a "blossoming romance" whilst working together on the show. It was teased that viewers might have been able to spot "hints" of chemistry between them in scenes featuring their characters on Casualty.

A source told the Sun at the time that he was in a "good place". They told the outlet: "After finding himself uncomfortably thrust into the spotlight towards the end of his time on Call the Midwife, Olly’s in a really good place at the moment."

They went on to say he "settled" into life on the show. They said: "Over the last year he's quickly settled into his new role on Casualty, got a new home in Cardiff where the drama is filmed, and is enjoying a blossoming romance with Anna."

Earlier this year, Olly made his debut in his role on Casualty in an episode broadcast in March.

His character, Flynn, was introduced as a new clinical lead consultant at Holby City ED and has remained on the show in the months since then.

Olly joined cast members like Anna, who had already been on the show for two years. She made her first appearance as nursing recruit Jodie in April 2023.

The Mirror has approached Anna and Olly's representatives.
