Kathy Burke rips into Rita Ora's naked Met Gala dress with very cheeky 'back door' joke

Kathy Burke was quick to make a joke about Rita Ora's Met Gala outfit - which saw the singer wear a near-naked beaded dress

Kathy Burke hilariously ripped into the near-naked beaded dress Rita Ora wore to the Met Gala on Monday.

On one of the biggest nights in fashion, the rich and famous all competed to outshine each other in wonderfully unique outfits as they attempted to follow the Garden of Time theme in conjunction with the Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion spring exhibition.

Doja Cat kept it clean and cosy in a literal towel before changing into a wet t-shirt look while Tyla had everyone in awe of her sand-inspired form-fitting dress. However, many were focused on singer Rita's beaded dress - which had her wearing almost nothing but said beads.

The Masked Singer star said she was wearing beads that "age back to the first and second century BC". The outfit was produced by Marni and it consisted of a nude bodysuit with a colourful display of beads over the top. She's described the latter aspect of the ensemble as a "necklace".

French and Saunders icon Kathy made a joke about the dress in a post shared on Twitter. Alongside a photo of Rita, Kathy wrote: "Yep, gotta keep those flies from coming in your back door." Fans rushed to the comment section to continue the joke, with one user writing: "I've just got one of those from Amazon for our kitchen door....."

"I did not think I could raise a smile today…. I just did a tea splutter laugh! thank you," another fan said while one commented: "Omg just spilt my tea laughing so much."

Brit award winner Rita teased that the outfit embodied "timeless beauty," with the Met Gala's theme understood to have been based around the museum's exhibition Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. The dress code was 'The Garden in Time' - inspired by a short story of the same name by the later author JG Ballard.

Speaking to Extra at the event, she said: "It's actually very old beads from the 1st and 2nd century BC. These actually have been handpicked all over sort of North Africa and Europe, and it just embodies this kind of timeless beauty from centuries and centuries so that's what we wanted to do."

She suggested that "playing with nature and time" is "really unique". The Masked Singer judge said that "understanding what beauty means" to attendees is "really, really cool". She then expressed excitement over seeing interpretations.
