The Matrix returns for fourth instalment with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss

The Matrix is coming back again and Lana Wachowski is set to direct, write and produce the movie

Twenty years after The Matrix was first released, the movie franchise is set to return for a fourth instalment with Keanu Reeves returning to reprise his iconic role.

It was March 31, 1999 when the original movie was released and now Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures will bring Matrix 4 to the world.

Lana Wachowski has been lined up to write, direct and produce the movie with Carrie-Anne Moss also reprising her role.

Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros. Picture Group chairman said about the news: "We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana.

"Lana is a true visionary, a singular and original creative filmmaker, and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe."
