The One Show's Alex Jones blasts Jared Leto as 'self-absorbed' and 'badly brought up'

The One Show presenter Alex Jones has claimed Jared Leto 'wasn't brought up well' in a scathing rant about the Hollywood actor, who she branded 'self-absorbed'

TV presenter Alex Jones has let rip at Hollywood actor Jared Leto, claiming the Oscar winner's lack of manners indicates he was "not been brought up well". The Welsh star recalls Jared being "so full of himself" when she interviewed him on The One Show three years ago.

Speaking in a new interview, Alex looks back on the biggest standout moment from her career and admits chatting to British homegrown talent on the BBC sofa is often more exciting than probing huge movie stars.

"You know, we've had people on that are big Hollywood stars. I mean, last week we had Robert De Niro and, he was lovely, but he was lovely afterwards," Alex recalled when spilling some secrets about her day job.

The mum-of-three, 47, then brought up Jared Leto and took a swipe at the Suicide Squad actor. Alex told the Netmums Podcast: "He was there in sort of dressed as one of the Three Musketeers and he had all this, like, I don't know, Gucci, big shirt, sleeves billowing. I mean, he was so full of himself.

"And I thought, no, no, no, no. Our audience are nice people and, they deserve better than this. And, okay, you might be like a huge celebrity star and, you know, you've done all these films, but there's. It doesn't cost to be polite and nice. Anybody who can't bring those simple skills to the table, I'm out. I'm like, no, sorry, you've not been brought up well, then."

This isn't the first time Alex has publicly slagged off the American movie star. While on Josh Widdicombe and Rob Beckett's Parenting Hell podcast in March 2023, Alex was asked who her "worst guest" was. "Jared Leto," she sighed in response.

When Rob and Josh asked if he was "hard work", Alex groaned: "He was dressed in Gucci and whatever and just so dismissive. He put himself on like a different plane to everybody else. I just can't bear people like that."

After seeing a picture of Jared on Zoom, Josh exclaimed: "Oh my word, look what he's wearing!" [He's] dressed like a musketeer or something!". Rob then laughed: "He looks like a Shakespearean actor. Oh, he looks hard work."

Alex agreed before adding: "I don't know whether I referenced musketeer early on and then from there it was a sharp downhill. With some people, you cannot warm them up for love or money, he was one of them."

The 2022 interview became noticeably awkward after Alex pointed out that Jared was wearing a white blouse similar to her own. She greeted the Morbius star with enthusiasm, saying: "Oh my goodness, look, you got the memo, the frilly shirt, I like it, yes." Things took a turn for the awkward when Alex admitted she thought the sci-fi movie might be too "scary" for her young son to watch.

Switching gears, she mentioned his role in the Apple TV+ series 'WeCrashed', based on WeWork's founder, remarking: "Now on paper, it doesn't sound the most exciting, but this guy you play is really extreme, isn't he? How would you sum him up?".

Jared, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Dallas Buyers Club in 2014, didn't hold back, quickly responding: "Hold on, hold on, first Morbius is too scary, and now WeCrashed is too boring?".

To this, Alex challenged him: "prove" them wrong, prompting Jared to assert: "I will prove you wrong. You watch them, and I guarantee one thing, you will definitely not be bored."
