Rylan Clark shares astonishing financial cost of mum's shock health issue abroad

TV host Rylan Clark helped his mum fly back to the UK from Spain in September last year after she was hospitalised following a horror fall - and now he's explained the cost of his mum's treatment

Rylan Clark has shared the crippling cost of the medical aid his mother needed during a trip abroad last year.

The 35-year-old presenter was traumatised last summer when his 71-year-old mother, Linda, suffered a horror fall while on holiday in Spain. Rylan was at his mothers’ side while she received treatment and helped fly her back to the UK where she was able to recover from her injuries.

Rylan kept his fans and social media followers updated on his mum’s condition - and even documented their dramatic flight back to the UK. He shared photos and updates of their journey - showing Linda receiving expert care from medical professionals while on a private jet back home.

Now he has opened up about the eye watering cost that treatment and travel for Linda cost - revealing a six figure number. Rylan is a guest on the latest episode of Kathy Burke’s podcast Where There's A Will, There's A Wake, where he shared details of Linda’s dramatic rescue with the iconic 59-year-old actress.

Over the course of their chat, Kathy declared: “A good two week annual holiday is very, very important.” Rylan then declared: “Yeah. I would like to have a holiday. I mean, I did, and then took me mum to Marbella and she fucking fell on the floor.”

Explaining the huge cost of Linda’s medical treatment, Rylan said: “A hundred grand, that woman’s cost me.” Kathy then gasped: “Linda!”

Rylan went on to explain that the private jet he hired to fly Linda home cost close to 100 grand alone - and joked about the rude-sounding name of the jet’s captain. Rylan said: “Forty eight grand for a f**king medical jet?” He continued: “Do you know what my captain was called? Captain Kuntz. They were a German company. Martin Kuntz.”

Rylan then laughed: “Handsome, but I thought ‘I can’t date you. Because I can’t be Rylan Clarke-Kuntz’. And he let me sit in the cockpit for landing. But I thought for 48 f**king grand, I should have sucked him off! My god. F**king hell.”

Rylan left fans concerned when he revealed his mum had been hospitalised last September. She had broken her arm and leg after suffering a fall abroad. He documented her recovery following her dramatic flight back to the UK.

When he celebrated his birthday last year, Rylan was delighted to reveal that his mum was on the mend. He wrote online at the time alongside a smiling snap of Linda: “For the first time in 2 months she’s managed to come round. Best birthday present. Don’t make a habit of it tho dorrrlliiinnn.”

Following the collapse of his marriage to Big Brother star Dan Neal, Rylan praised his mum for caring for him as he struggled to cope with the emotional turmoil the collapse of his marriage caused. He split from 44-year-old Dan in June 2021 after six years of marriage and declared he “couldn’t have got through the past year without my mum”, who he described as his “entire support”.
