Unassuming British city becomes backdrop for Netflix's exciting new Narnia film
The Magician's Nephew, from the Chronicles of Narnia, is being adapted into a Netflix film – and locals of a British city were shocked to find camera crew on their doorsteps
Sections of UK have been transformed into 1900s England as cameras roll for an thrilling new Netflix production. Areas of Yorkshire, Manchester and London have served as the settings for a highly-anticipated adaptation of C. S Lewis' The Magician's Nephew, from the Chronicles of Narnia.
In the past few days, horses were spotted charging through residential streets in West Yorkshire, alongside camera crews on motorcycles and extras strolling along Bradford's cobbled roads. Shooting is anticipated to occur in areas of Little Germany and Lister Mills on Cater Street, Currer Street, Bolton Road and Stott Hill. And it's fair to say the spectacle has left residents utterly stunned.
One Bradford resident was amazed when they witnessed a woman on horseback wearing silver armour, with a dummy child positioned in front of her. It's thought she's a stunt performer. The local also noticed an actor portraying a milkman.
Responding in a video shared on TikTok, they declared: "Narnia filmed in my back garden."
In response, one person remarked: "A very random place to film Narnia in Bradford." Meanwhile, another exclaimed: "Honestly, the best day of 2025."
Another posted: "It's real guys! Bradford street has that type of look that the production need. When you watch it, it wont even look like Bradford but Bradford is one of the locations for the production."
Someone else observed: "How wonderful! They have anywhere in the world to film but they chose a back alley of Bradford. There you go, there's NO place like Bradford."
Bradford is no stranger to the limelight, having previously served as a filming location for Netflix's Six Triple Eight and crime drama Virdee in the area known as Little Germany.
The upcoming film is penned and directed by Greta Gerwig, renowned for her work on Little Women, Lady Bird and Barbie, and it is set for release late next year.
While rumours are swirling about a star-studded cast, Netflix remains tight-lipped. Speculation from 'What's On Netflix' suggests Meryl Streep could voice Aslan, Daniel Craig might play Uncle Andrew Ketterley, and Sex Education's Emma Mackey could portray the White Witch.
Oscar-nominated actress Carey Mulligan is also rumoured to be part of the ensemble.
