Victoria Coren Mitchell's adult film career and 'scary' response from men

BBC telly host and professional poker player Victoria Coren Mitchell and her husband, comedian David Mitchell, recently shared happy news with welcoming their second child

Victoria Coren Mitchell and her comedian husband David Mitchell recently welcomed their second child together. While she is now known for her successful television career, having hosted BBC's Only Connect, and as a professional poker player, Victoria's journey to success was not without its twists and turns.

The 51-year-old was once the producer of an adult film called The Naughty Twins, alongside her friend Charlie Skelton. Victoria's journey into the adult film industry began when she took on a job at The Erotic Review magazine for "a bit of fun".

However, she believed she could do better and decided to produce her own film. The pair flew to Amsterdam and got an amateur cast together to create their masterpiece. The film was later screened for "friends, colleagues and some blokes off the telly".

Speaking to the Independent, Victoria said she aimed to treat the actors with respect, but her family were still not pleased with her decision to venture into the adult film industry. Her mother was concerned about her safety, while her father found it amusing. However, Victoria eventually managed to calm her mother down by sending postcards explaining that the only muscle man in the movie had a day job as a floral greeting card designer.

However, Victoria did express some concern about how her future boyfriends would react to her past. "Men I've spoken to since have tended to be delighted rather than shocked, but this is more scary than reassuring," she added. Despite her worries, her husband of over a decade, comedian David Mitchell, has no issue with it. The couple have been married since 2010 and now have two children together.

Victoria even revealed that she thought about marrying David just hours after meeting him. The two first met when David's friend David Baddiel introduced them. In 2007, Victoria said that Baddiel told her: "There’s David Mitchell over there, I think you should probably marry him. I’ll get the ball rolling by introducing you".

While Victoria initially thought the idea was ridiculous, she later changed her mind and ended up going on a few dates with David. However, she ended things through email, citing that the timing wasn't right for her. In his 2012 Back Story, David admitted that being dumped by Victoria left him with "enormous sadness that overshadowed my life".

But three years later, the pair rekindled their romance after Victoria split from another boyfriend. David has since spoken highly of his wife, saying that she is too wonderful and too right for him. "She’s funny, bright, sexy, nervous and confident in ways that could have been meant for me. I feel very lucky," he said.
