Harry Potter fans settle debate on whether they're actually Christmas films

Christmas is the time for movie marathons, especially festive themed ones. Now this sparked conversations about whether or not the Harry Potter films should be considered Christmas films

The Harry Potter films are often part of the days long movie marathons on TV during Christmas.

But even so, people across the world have expressed how they consider the films a crucial part of their holiday celebrations. Despite the dark nature of most of the films, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone along with the rest of the series, are on several people's lists of films to watch during their festive movie marathons.

While it's not labelled as a Christmas film, people still argue it should be considered a Christmas film, mainly due to the Christmassy scenes in the first film. Even the official Harry Potter TikTok account had a say, where they gave three reasons as to why the first Harry Potter film is most certainly a Christmas film.

The first reason, they said, was because of the "gorgeous" snowy scenes and decorations that can be seen being put up around the Great Hall.

"Just look at Hagrid dragging the huge tree," they wrote alongside a clip from the film. "Imagine how amazing it would feel to walk into the Great Hall and be surrounded by huge Christmas trees.

The second reason, they said, was because of the magical and atmospheric music soundtrack of the film, saying: "Whether it's the tinkly bell sounds or the swelling crescendos, there's something that reminds us of Christmas."

A more heart-warming reason the film should be a festive film, according to the TikTok, is because it shows Harry's first proper Christmas, away from the Dursleys.

They argued: "Harry waking up to a Christmas gift on Christmas Day is one of the most heart-warming scenes of the whole film."

Fans were quick to agree with the statement in the comment section, with one person saying: "Any movie that has a Christmas celebration, decor, or theme inside of it...is a Christmas movie to me," while a second person said: "My favourite Halloween movie and Christmas movie Harry Potter."

A third person said: "My wife always wants to marathon the movies at Halloween since they’re witches and wizards, but they’ve always given more of a Christmas vibe to me for this very reason," with anther one agreeing: "More Christmas than Die Hard. I said it."
