Inside Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa's feud as reason behind bitter fallout revealed
Francia Raisa didn't speak to Selena Gomez for six years after donating a kidney to the singer and she's now opened up about the bitter feud which broke their bond
There was a time when Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa looked as though they had an unbreakable bond, but the pair didn't talk for six years after going through a bitter feud.
Selena and Francia first met while visiting a children's hospital together back in 2007 and they quickly became inseparable. They then moved in together in 2016, before Francia gave her friend the ultimate gift.
After learning that Selena's kidneys were failing amid her battle with lupus, she decided to donate one of her own. However, rumours of a feud started to swirl when Selena credited Taylor Swift as her only friend in Hollywood. Here, we've taken a look at Selena and Francia's friendship and fallout.

Francia first met Selena during a charity event at a children's hospital which saw Disney and ABC stars meet patients on the wards. She said they started talking at the event and found themselves running into each other a lot after that.
Speaking to W magazine in March 2018, she explained: "One day she called me and was like, 'Hey, I don’t have any friends. Why don't we ever hang out?' Then we've just been inseparable." Francia said she and Selena "just clicked".
Kidney transplant
Selena revealed she had been diagnosed with lupus in 2015. During an interview with Billboard she addressed her silence on social media: "I've been through chemotherapy. That's what my break was really about. I could've had a stroke."
After learning that the Wizards of Waverly Place star's kidneys were failing, Francia immediately offered to get tested to see if she could donate one of her own kidneys. The operation took place in 2017.
Afterwards, Selena shared a sweet picture of the two of them laying in hospital beds holding hands. She wrote: "I'm very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn't promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of.
"So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. There aren't words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa." She thanked her friend for giving her the "ultimate gift". Selena finished her post by saying: " I love you so much sis."
Emotional award show speech
In November 2017, Selena was given Billboard's Woman of the Year Award, which was presented to her by Francia. In her speech, she gushed over Francia, saying: "To be honest, I think Francia should be getting this award.
"Because she saved my life." Selena further thanked her friend during the emotional speech and said she felt "incredibly lucky".
Brutal snub
Things looked as if they had grown tense for Selena and Francia when the Same Old Love hitmaker opened up about her struggle to make friends. "I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn't belong," she told Rolling Stone magazine.
E! News then shared the quote on Instagram, praising Taylor and Selena's close friendship. Francia responded with a one-word comment, writing: "Interesting." Her comment was later deleted.
Selena and Francia's friendship seemed to go from bad to worse when Selena seemingly responded in a TikTok. She said: "Sorry I didn't mention every person I know."
Not speaking for six years
How I Met Your Father actress Francia has now admitted she didn't speak to Selena for six years. "It’s still crazy to me that people were invested in our friendship," she spilled in an interview with USA Today.
She went on: "I don’t know why the timing happened the way it did, but I remember being in St. Tropez in June and I kept talking about her. We hadn’t spoken much in six years. Especially the last year, we didn’t speak at all."
Reconciliation
The pair decided to reconcile back in July, with Selena wishing Francia a happy birthday. "I don’t know why the universe decided this timing … then she reached out and said, ‘Let’s talk,'" Francia told USA Today.
Then, in August the pair were seen stepping out in Santa Monica, California. Announcing that they had "no beef, just salsa," Francia has now said: "We’ve never really had beef with each other. Nothing happened, and if you ask either of us, we don’t know what happened but we needed that time apart."
She said they are both "better people" after spending some time apart. Francia added that they're currently enjoying "getting to know each other again."
