Meghan Markle and Prince Harry slammed over 'Victim Olympics campaign'

Desperate Housewives star Justine Bateman has torn into Meghan Markle and Prince Harry claiming that the royals are making light of being 'victims' by turning it into an Olympic sport

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have faced harsh criticism from a Desperate Housewives actress. In recent months, the Duke and Duchess have come under criticism for their actions, including an incident when Meghan revealed she had received a package which was to help a young girl who lost everything in the Los Angeles wildfires.

The Sussexes stepped down as senior working royals in 2020 and announced they would live a more financially independent lifestyle in the United States. At the time, Harry, 40, stated he was still hoping to honour his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth and be a representative of her.

But during the famous Sandringham Summit, it was decided that the pair would not carry out any royal duties. They also announced they would stop using their HRH titles but would remain the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. However, they were prevented from using their Sussex Royal branding, which they had previously used on Instagram.

But actress Justine Bateman who has appeared in Family Ties and Desperate Housewives has furiously hit out at the couple and claimed that they turned being "victims" into an Olympic Sport. In a scathing attack, she branded the pair "disaster tourists" and "ambulance chasers," after they attended an event to help victims of the wildfires.

"The problem with Meghan Markle (and her husband, Harry) is that every opportunity they have explored or exploited over the past few years has been due to their very aggressive Victim Olympics campaign," Justine fumed. Writing on her Race Track substack, she went on to add: "The difference between doing that two years ago and doing it now is immense. It's 2025, and no one wants to see victims anymore. No one wants to watch someone playact at something they didn't earn."

According to the Mail, Justine doesn't believe anybody means to "wish her ill" and Meghan has the right to have her Netflix cookery show and "start a podcast or two." Justine even created her own Gold Olympic's medal for the couple. Meghan has recently been appearing in her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan.

The eight-part series sees the royal is seen engaging in conversation and activities with her famous pals. But more recently, she announced her latest podcast series, Confessions of a Female Founder. The Duchess is teaming up with Lemonada Media. The upcoming podcast is described by the US podcast company as inviting listeners "to be a fly on the wall as Meghan sits down for candid conversations with female founders and friends about the success, the struggles, and the never-before-told stories of building a business."

Lemonada said: "As Meghan (@meghan) herself navigates the world of entrepreneurship with the upcoming launch of her brand As Ever, be inspired by the real, unfiltered stories and lessons learned from notable female founders—from knowing your worth, to trusting your gut, securing investors, and investing in yourself."

Meanwhile, Meghan shared a post on her Instagram page to share the news. She wrote in the caption: "I'm so excited to share with you something else I've been working on: 'Confessions of a Female Founder,' my new podcast with @lemonadamedia! I've been having candid conversations with amazing women who have turned dreams into realities, and scaled small ideas into massively successful businesses.

"They're opening up, sharing their tips, tricks (and tumbles), and letting me pick their brains as I build out my own business, As ever. It has been absolutely eye-opening, inspiring…and fun! (Because what's the point if we can't have some fun on this wild adventure?) First episode is April 8th!"
