David Lloyd Leisure Limited - A Correction
In recent articles entitled “Coronation Street star Carol Royle reveals music boss husband's cause of death” published on 11 December 2024 and “Corrie star reveals tragic details of 'perfectly fit' husband's death in David Lloyds gym” published on 12 December 2024, we stated that actress Carol Royle had confirmed her husband Julian Spear’s cause of death, after she announced he died in a freak swimming pool accident.”
We reported that Mr Spear told his wife he had jumped into a pool which was usually heated, but on this occasion “was much colder than usual,” and that this “lead to a haemorrhage in a part of the brain […].” We also erroneously stated that Mr Spear died at a David Lloyd gym.
We have been asked to clarify that the official cause of Mr Spear’s death has not yet been determined. Additionally, as explained further in the articles, Mr Spear, in fact, returned home after visiting the gym and collapsed sometime later, at which point he was transferred to the hospital, where he sadly passed away the following day.
