Star of The Batman spin-off series The Penguin, Colin Farrell leads the upcoming film A Ballad of A Small Player based on an award-winning book. The highly-anticipated thriller also comes from Oscar-winning director Edward Berger.
His English-language debut Conclave was a critical and commercial success. It followed another hit of the filmmaker, All Quiet on the Western Front, whish was also released on Netflix.

What is A Ballad of A Small Player about?
Lord Doyle is laying low in Macau, spending his days and nights on the casino floors, drinking heavily and gambling what little money he has left. Struggling to keep up with his fast-rising debts, he is offered a lifeline by the mysterious Dao Ming, a casino employee with secrets of her own.
However, in hot pursuit is Cynthia Blithe – a private investigator ready to confront Doyle with what he is running from. As Doyle tries to climb to salvation, the confines of reality start to close in.
It is based on the novel of the same name written by Lawrence Osbourne. Screenwriter Rowan Joffe, whose previous works include 28 Weeks Later, penned the script.

What are fans saying about A Ballad of A Small Player?
Fans are excited for the films release with anticipation building since the first trailer dropped. Many are already praising what looks like a top performance from star Colin Farrell.
Some have commented on how he could become tipped for more awards following his turn in series The Penguin. One person commented on the trailer: "This era of Collin is the one we've been wanting since he broke in. Love it."

The film is one of a handful of Netflix titles that will enjoy a short theatrical run before being made available for streaming. It will hit the big screen at select number of cinemas from October 15.
Thankfully for subscribers there will not be too long to wait to watch from the comfort of their own home. It will be made available for streaming just a couple weeks later, from October 29.
