Disney fans name 'dream' cast for live-action Tangled as they say there's 'no other option'
Disney has revived plans to make a live-action version of the 2010 animation
A live-action remake of 2010's Tangled is reportedly being revived by Disney, and fans have wasted no time sharing their 'dream' cast list.
Following the performance of its recent live-action Snow White movie, plans to take on Tangled were put on pause. However, development has recently resumed, with confidence in the project buoyed by the success of the more recent Lilo & Stitch, according to Deadline.
The original film starred Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, a young girl locked in a tower by the overly-protective Mother Gothel (Donna Murphy). The arrival of charming thief Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi) allows her to finally realise her dreams of experiencing the outside world.
The Greatest Showman's Michael Gracey is on board to direct the live-action film and there are rumours that Scarlett Johansson reportedly in talks for the role of Mother Gothel.
Following word of the a Tangled remake being back on the cards, Disney fans have flocked to share their thoughts on who should be cast in the leading roles, with many pitching the exact same celebrities.
Sabrina Carpenter as Rapunzel
Popstar Sabrina Carpenter was a hugely popular choice with a flurry of Disney fans suggesting her for the role of leading lady Rapunzel given her striking resemblance to the character, while actor Florence Pugh was also mentioned time and time again as an ideal fit.
"I don't see any other options," penned one fan sharing a photo of Sabrina in a similar pose to the animation, as a second added: "Rapunzel needs to either be Sabrina Carpenter or Mckenna Grace."
Meanwhile a third shared: "I’d loveee to see Sabrina as Rapunzel but since that’s what literally everyone on the internet wants i feel like i definitely won’t be her lol."
Taylor Zakhar Perez as Flynn Rider
Red, White & Royal Blue actor Taylor Zakhar Perez's name was mentioned repeatedly by fans for the role of Flynn Rider, alongside suggestions of Jonathan Bailey and Pedro Pascal.
"Casting directors bout to spend 6 months trying to find someone who can smolder like flynn," joked one film fan, as a second quipped: "If pedro pascal isn’t at least considered for flynn i’m boycotting."
Meanwhile a third declared: "There is only one correct answer: Taylor Zakhar Perez," while a fourth shared: "Manifesting Taylor Zakhar Perez in Tangled."
Kathryn Hahn or Donna Murphy as Mother Gothel
For many fans there was no other choice but the return of Mother Gothel's original voice actor, Donna Murphy. However, some argued for Agatha All Along's Kathryn Hahn to take over.
"There is no better option than [Kathryn]," said one fan sharing an image of the star in her witchy get-up. A second penned: "The only good choice for mother gothel in the tangled live action is kathryn hahn and i will die on that hill."
A release date for the live-action Tangled is yet to be announced
