'One of the greatest 21st century films' just landed on Netflix

The critically acclaimed film boasts a rare 92 per cent Rotten Tomatoes score

Netflix has just added an Oscar-nominated drama hailed as 'one of the greatest movies of the 21st century' to its library.

Starring Hollywood heavyweights Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, and Justin Timberlake, the film was written and directed by Ethan and Joel Coen. The famed Coen brothers are known for iconic films including The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, and Fargo.

We are, of course, talking about Inside Llewyn Davis, which is now available to stream on Netflix. First released in 2013, the period drama follows a week in the life of Llewyn Davis, a folk singer struggling to find fame in 1960s New York.

With Isaac leading the cast as Llewyn, the film dives into the bleak reality artists face in the pursuit of fame. It also explores important themes such as loneliness, loss, and love.

The slice-of-life dramedy received widespread acclaim upon its premiere, earning Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography and Best Achievement in Sound. Beyond the Academy, Rotten Tomatoes critics scored the drama an impressive 92 per cent rating.

Their critics' consensus raves: "Smart, funny, and profoundly melancholy, Inside Llewyn Davis finds the Coen brothers in fine form."

Casual moviegoers were also impressed by the 2010s hit, with one reviewer stating: "I loved this movie, start to finish. One of the best films I have seen in years."

Writing on Google Reviews, another fan said: "I’m convinced it’s the best film by the Coen brothers and one of the greatest of the 21st century."

A second echoed the praise, writing: "One of the most underappreciated movies ever made. A Coen bros gem and Oscar Isaac absolutely nails his performance. It's one a best stories ever told."

While a third shared a recommendation for future viewers, saying: "Like all great films, it gets better with every viewing."

Another fan took to IMDb, and wrote: "This is one of the darkest, bleak, and unforgiving movies I've ever seen. But it's also beautiful. Nothing short of a masterpiece."

And a final movie fanatic said: "Oscar Isaac gives his best performance ever and is completely absorbed into the character; he is like a slow motion traffic accident from which you can't and won't want to look away."
