As The Monkey hits cinemas, film fans are bracing themselves for what master of horror himself, Stephen King, described as "b*****t insane" experience. The film is based on King's 1980 short story of the same name with the director behind Longlegs, Osgood Perkins, at the helm.
The Monkey's official synopsis teases: "When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tear their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree forcing the estranged brothers to confront the cursed toy."
An impressive cast is on board, including Theo James (Netflix's The Gentleman) in a dual role as the grown-up twins and Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings), while Tatiana Maslany, who utters the film's iconic words "Everybody dies", plays the mother of the ill-fated siblings.
Viewers will likely recognise 39-year-old Tatiana from some pretty high-profile projects such as Disney+'s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, but what fans of the star may not know is all about her breakout role and her life away from the cameras.
Tatiana Maslany's big break
The actress is no stranger to playing more than one role in a show. She landed her big break in hit sci-fi thriller series Orphan Black, in which she played an astonishing 13 different characters - and it landed her an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
The series told the story of a woman who sees her doppelganger end her own life at a train station. Stunned by their uncanny resemblance, she assumes the woman's identity and heads down a rabbit hole that leads her to discover she is actually one of 276 clones.
The bonkers show ran for five seasons from 2013 to 2017 and saw Tatiana play 13 different clones, all with distinct personalities. That isn't including the photo-only references to further clones which would push that figure much higher. The show has a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, with an impressive audience score of 92%, and critics' score of 93%.
Is Tatiana Maslany married?
The star wed Brendan Hines, 48, in 2022, with the pair reported to have been together since December 2020. Hines is an actor and singer, known for roles in Suits, The Tick and Locke & Key.
Their wedding took place during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic and the couple "kept it small". Their dog Earl acted as a ring bearer, though the pup managed to lose the rings in a field of sheep.
Tatiana kept the ceremony a secret from the wider public. She only revealed the details at a later date on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
