Netflix’s ‘best rom-com in years’ with former teen star shoots to top of charts as fans ‘obsessed’
A new rom-com starring a beloved former teen icon has shot up the Netflix charts within days of its release
Netflix’s smash-hit new romantic-comedy is currently the most-watched film on the streaming platform as countless viewers tuned in over the weekend.
Released last Friday (12th September), the swoon-worthy and hilarious new movie is led by the star of one of the most iconic teen shows ever, which has just had a recent comeback.
It’s currently at the top position on Netflix’s film chart, beating out recent popular releases such as The Thursday Murder Club and KPop Demon Hunters.
If you’ve not already tuned in, take this as a sign to put The Wrong Paris with Miranda Cosgrove straight to the top of your watchlist this week.
The iCarly star portrays an ambitious small-town artist named Dawn who signs up to a dating show taking place in Paris with the dream of going to art school in the French capital.
Once she arrives along with a gaggle of quirky contestants she quickly realises they’ve been duped and sent to Paris, Texas instead - less than an hour away from her hometown.
Although she’s determined to get away, she can’t help but be won over by the rich, single cowboy up for grabs, Trey McAllen (played by Pierson Fodé).
The Wrong Paris has already received acclaim from fans who devoured the new rom-com over the weekend, with hundreds of five-star Google reviews for this guilty pleasure that’s impossible not to fall for.
One ecstatic response read: “The Wrong Paris is the best rom-com I have seen in a very long time. I sat riveted for the 1 hr & 47 min movie, which I hardly ever do.
“The characters, Dawn and Trey have such chemistry and the cinematography was on point.”
They went on to admit: “I loved the movie so much, that I watched it again today! It is going to be my new go to rom-com on Netflix.”
Someone else raved: “Absolutely darling movie! I usually don't watch the latest rom coms that are out today. So many of them come across as incredibly cheesy, predictable and provide no true humor.
“The Wrong Paris took me away for a couple of hours after a long work week. I laughed throughout the entire movie. I was left with an overall great feeling about life and that I had been thoroughly entertained. I miss these types of movies.”
Another agreed: “Okay as someone who loves a rom-com and also loves reality tv show this was like my dream movie!!!!!
“It had me hooked the whole time and it even had me belly laughing at one point and I was even crying at some point as well so it allowed me to feel all my feelings and it was overall an amazing movie.”

Sky is giving away a free Netflix subscription with its new Sky Stream TV bundles, including the £15 Essential TV plan.
This lets members watch live and on-demand TV content without a satellite dish or aerial and includes hit shows like Love is Blind UK.
Conversation continued on X where one fan said: “The Wrong Paris on Netflix is actually such a good romcom. It’s about damn time.”
And a final fan called it the streamer’s best rom-com since a hit release back in 2018: “Just finished watching the wrong paris and was pleasantly surprised how cute it was!! the best netflix romcom since set it up imo.”
Will you be taking a trip down to Paris, Texas with Dawn and Trey this week?
