Netflix's People We Meet On Vacation lead cast and release date announced
The romance film premieres on Netflix in January 2026
Netflix's latest romance novel adaptation has finally found its leading duo, and their chemistry is 'electric'.
The streaming giant has revealed which actors will star in People We Meet on Vacation, and when viewers can tune into the film.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Netflix shared first-look images of the production, alongside the caption: "Meet Poppy & Alex. PEOPLE WE MEET ON VACATION starring Emily Bader and Tom Blyth is yours on January 9."
Film fans will likely recognise Blyth as Coriolanus Snow from his recent page-to-screen adaptation, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Meanwhile, Bader is best known for starring in Prime Video's period drama My Lady Jane, alongside Edward Bluemel.
For those unfamiliar with the forthcoming rom-com, People We Meet on Vacation is based on Emily Henry's bestselling book of the same name.
It follows unlikely friendship duo Poppy (Bader) and Alex (Blyth), who spend every summer vacation together. Their friendship is put to the test when they begin to wonder if they could be a perfect romantic match.
Like all of Henry's works, this novel has gained a devoted fanbase since landing on shelves in 2021. So, naturally, readers will be keen to discover if Bader and Blyth can live up to the beloved characters' chemistry.
And if it's any consolation, the author is confident in this casting. "I’ve been kind of an anxious wreck about who would play these characters," Henry admitted to Netflix.
She continued: "I truly could not feel more confident that my readers and then so many more people who don’t even know about the book are going to completely fall in love with Poppy and Alex."
The film's director, Brett Haley, is also optimistic about the leading duo. "Emily and Tom’s chemistry is electric," he said. "They capture that opposites-attract dynamic in a way that feels effortless and true."
The cast also features Sarah Catherine Hook (The White Lotus), Jameela Jamil (The Good Place), Lucien Laviscount (Emily in Paris), and Lukas Gage (Overcompensating).
They are joined by Miles Heizer (13 Reasons Why), Tommy Do (The Four Seasons), Alice Lee (The Union), Alan Ruck (Succession), and Molly Shannon (Will & Grace).
People We Meet on Vacation premieres on Netflix on January 9, 2026.
