Will Christopher Briney and Lola Tung return for The Summer I Turned Pretty movie?

Fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty are keen to know all about the movie

The Summer I Turned Pretty will be returning for a film outing to round off the epic story, it has been confirmed.


Amazon Prime Video announced during a glitzy event in Paris that fans would be taken back to Cousins for a cinematic experience.


The news sent fans wild with excitement, not long after the series finale dropped and revealed who Belly (played by Lola Tung) had finally chosen.


Han hinted post-credits that The Summer I Turned Pretty would be coming back with a message that read: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love you’ve shown The Summer I Turned Pretty all these years.

“Whether you’ve been with Belly since the very first book or joined us with the show, I’m so grateful you’ve made Belly’s story part of your summers.

“We put our whole heart into this show, and we’re so thankful to you for coming along with us on the ride. Maybe we’ll meet again one summer in Cousins. Until then — All of my love always, Jenny.”


Now, fans want to know about the movie and if the two lead stars are back.

Will Christopher Briney and Lola Tung return for The Summer I Turned Pretty movie?

Many details are still under wraps, but author and co-showrunner Han will be writing and directing the movie.


“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans,” said Han in a statement.

Although the cast hasn’t been confirmed, it was clear from the announcement image that stars Briney and Tung would be reprising their roles.

In the image, the two leads looked glamorous as they posed by a a sign that read: “The Summer I Turned Pretty The Movie.”

Han’s novels served as the basis for The Summer I Turned Pretty shows, with season three taking its cue from We’ll Always Have Summer.

However, the big thing that The Summer I Turned Pretty didn’t adapt from the books was Belly and Conrad’s wedding, which is now expected to be depicted onscreen in the movie.


Moreover, fans are likely to get a more satisfying ending for all of the character and most likely Han will be opening the door to some The Summer I Turned Pretty spin-offs.

With the popularity of The Summer I Turned Pretty, any follow-ups are likely to be successful given the huge interest in the show.

Han created a spin-off from her To All The Boys movies in the form of XO, Kitty on Netflix which is going to be returning for a third season after debuting in 2023.
