Twilight fans 'crying' over cryptic update 12 years after last film

The official Twilight social media accounts have shared a cryptic update

Twilight fans have been sent into overdrive following a mysterious post from the film's social media accounts.

The beloved vampire franchise delivered five blockbusters between 2008 and 2012, launching Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart into worldwide stardom.

Based on Stephenie Meyer's romantic novels, the hit series chronicles a supernatural love triangle involving teenager Bella Swan (Stewart), ancient vampire Edward Cullen (Pattinson) and werewolf Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner).

If fans of the saga are keen to reconnect with these beloved characters, it seems they might be making a comeback to cinemas this autumn.

On Wednesday (August 27), the movie series' official Instagram page posted an image of Bella, Edward and Jacob alongside the text "Forever Begins Again, "The Twilight Saga," and "This October."

The picture includes the mysterious caption "Tomorrow," suggesting another announcement will drop on Thursday (August 28), reports the Manchester Evening News.

Whilst the social media teaser doesn't divulge extensive details, audiences have already begun speculating wildly. The majority of supporters suspect the franchise will be making its way back to picture houses this October, perfectly timed for the first novel's 20th anniversary.

One fan wrote: "Y'all this means they are gonna show the series in theatres in October if you are confused," whilst another proposed: "It's probably either a book, unused footage or a TV show."

Others were swift to express their enthusiasm regarding the announcement.

"PLEASE BE ANOTHER MOVIE I'M GEEKING OUT," wrote one excited viewer. One excited fan exclaimed: "IDK WHAT THIS MEANS BUT YES," while another viewer confessed: "I'm throwing up, I'm too fragile rn for this, is this a fever dream?"

Another fan couldn't contain their excitement, gushing: "OMG so excited whatever this is I'm so hooked by just seeing the poster," and yet another quipped: "WHAT IS HAPPENING?"

Someone else penned: "OMG I'm already crying. I want to know what it is AHHHHH."

The film's star-studded cast has not yet responded to the announcement. However, Taylor Lautner dropped a blushing emoji on the Instagram post, hinting at his possible involvement in the series revival.
