Prince William's sweet admission about Princess Diana's famous 'crush' - and they were in contact

Prince William previously revealed the identity of Princess Diana's very famous celebrity crush. He has also admitted that his mum embarrassed him in front of his own supermodel infatuation

Kevin Costner didn't hesitate to accept when he received a surprise invitation from Prince William to meet. The Hollywood star was contacted by the royal some years ago, while they were both in London. And it ended up being a very revealing conversation.

Yellowstone actor Kevin recently recalled their exchange - and his surprise at William's very first comment to him. "We met in this room, and it was just us," he said. "He walked up, and we shook hands... The first line out of his mouth was, 'You know, my mum kind of fancied you.'"

The pair spoke for about 30 minutes - but Kevin told People he will "never ever say what" they discussed. He noted, "It was a very sweet thing. We just chatted and we both broke away and we never became pen pals or did anything like that. But I've had such fond memories of who he was, how I was approached and what we talked about."

Years earlier, Kevin had been in contact with Princess Diana about collaborating on a sequel to The Bodyguard, his 1992 hit co-starring Whitney Houston. And it was none other than Sarah Ferguson who introduced the pair. "It was so sweet. Sarah was the one that set this up," he revealed. "Sarah was very cool... when she could have been going, 'Well, I’m a princess too. What about me?' She didn’t do that at all. Diana and I began to talk."

Meanwhile, Prince William previously spoke about his own celebrity crush - and how his mother Diana 'embarrassed' him with a surprise visit. As a teenager, William had posters of supermodels on his walls, including Cindy Crawford , Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington. And Diana was able to utilise her position to arrange a visit from Cindy, who later said: "Princess Diana had somehow got the number to my office and called herself to ask for me. My assistant was in shock! We finally connected and she asked if the next time I was in London I would come by for tea."

But rather than being filled with delight, the shock of seeing Cindy in the flesh, almost made William fall down the stairs. "I was probably a 12 or 13-year-old boy who had posters of them on his wall," the Prince recalled in the documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy. "And I went bright red and didn't know what to say and sort of fumbled and I think I pretty much fell down the stairs on the way up. I was completely and utterly sort of awestruck. But that was a very funny memory."
