Businessman found 'murdered' in home weeks after wife dies of cancer
Nigel Key, from Totton was found dead just weeks after his wife Shelia had passed away from cancer, with him only posting a tribute to her last week
A grieving businessman was discovered lifeless inside his home just weeks after his wife died from cancer - prompting police to launch a murder probe.
Emergency services rushed to a property in Matley Gardens, Totton, following reports of an assault on October 16. Officers found Nigel Key, 51, suffering from serious injuries. Medics also attended the property and later pronounced him dead at the scene.
Hampshire Police confirmed another man was found at the scene with serious injuries. The man, age 31, has since been arrested on suspicion of murder. The tragedy comes just weeks after Mr Key's wife, Sheila, had passed away from cancer. The couple ran a construction consultancy firm together. Sheila sadly died just two months after she was diagnosed on October 2.
Mr Key earlier took to social media to address his wife's death and said it had left “an enormous hole in the world and in our hearts", reports Mail Online. He paid tribute to "an amazing wife, mum and nan" just last week. He wrote: “Despite a valiant battle with intensive radiotherapy and chemotherapy, no one was expecting it to take her so soon.
“She was admitted to hospital in the early hours with breathing difficulties and passed mid morning. I would love to tell you all individually so I could share your memories of her but it is just not possible. For me, being my wife says everything that needs to be said. She was an amazing wife, mum and nan.”
