Shock moment road rage thug stops on motorway fast lane to taunt another driver
Shocking footage shows an angry 38-year-old man from Kent getting out of his car on the outside lane of the M40 near Warwick amid busy traffic to shout at the driver behind
An angry motorist pulled up in the fast lane of a motorway and got out of his car to shout at a driver behind in a shocking road rage exchange.
In a heart-stopping scene, the man swerved his Volkswagen pick-up truck in front of the other car on lane three northbound of the M40 near Warwick. The raging motorist then leaps out and marches up to the other vehicle while lorries and vehicles hurtle past. The man then screams "What do you think you're doing?" while gesticulating wildly with his arms.
The shaken driver is heard saying: "Just get back into the car and drive". The man then walks back to his pick-up and speeds away. Incredibly, no one was hurt in the road rage incident which happened on the M40 in February.
But the victim had recorded what happened with his dashcam and submitted the footage to Warwickshire Police's Operation Snap and the force pursued criminal charges. Police released footage of the incident after the driver, a 38-year-old from Kent, was banned from driving for three years.
He was also ordered to do 250 hours of unpaid work and given a 20-day rehabilitation order at Coventry Magistrates' Court. Warwickshire Police Inspector Dave Valente said: "Whilst extremely rare, this case highlights the serious consequences of allowing yourself to get angry behind the wheel, putting other people's lives at risk."
"Op Snap allows drivers to submit moving footage of poor driving, without taking matters into their own hands. Those whose driving falls below the standards expected can and will be held to account. By working together in this way, we can help reduce death and injury on our roads."
The full statement from the force read: "This road rage driver forced another driver to stop in lane 3 of the M40 northbound near Warwick with no regard for the potential consequences. He then got out of his truck to shout at the other driver.
"It is remarkable his dangerous driving in February this year, didn’t result in a serious injury or death. He also failed to consider that the driver he forced to a stop was one of the 20% of drivers in the UK who now record every journey on dashcam.
"He promptly submitted the footage to Warwickshire Police’s Operation Snap, where it was reviewed by our Road Safety Officer, and he was summonsed to court for dangerous driving. The 38 year old from Kent was sentenced to a 3 year driving ban, 250 hours of unpaid supervised work and a 20 day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement at Coventry Magistrates Court on 14 October."
