UK's favourite horror film revealed - and it's bad news for Pennywise fans

With Halloween soon upon us the country's favourite spooky film has been revealed- and classic horror fans might be disappointed

Halloween isn’t Halloween without sticking on a horror film, and whether you like a classic slasher or something more sinister, there’s always plenty of options.

But what is the best frightening flick? Despite a long list of chilling baddies - from Freddy Krueger to Leatherface, it's not an old film that's topped a search for the UK's favourite but a much-acclaimed newbie that's only four years old.

CasinoGrounds put the study together and the numbers have spoken. Jordan Peele’s Get Out topped the list as Brits' favourite film to watch this spooky season.

Get Out has approximately 7,700 searches a month and an IMDB score of 7.7, along with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 98% based on 397 critic reviews.

According to the stats, Brits second favourite horror film is the classic slasher horror Scream, which was released in 1996.

The fifth instalment of the series is scheduled for January 22, which could be the reason it’s boosted in popularity.

In terms of classic horror films, the UK’s third favourite Halloween film is Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, because who can forget Jack Nicholson’s eerily good performance?

The flick has an IMDB rating of 8.4 and gets around 152,758 Wikipedia page views a month.

Other classic mentions that made the top ten include Psycho and The Exorcist, demonstrating that no matter how old the film, we still love them.
