Charlie Kirk assassination book 'appears on Amazon day before' Utah shooting

The 69 page Kindle volume, titled 'The Shooting of Charlie Kirk: A Comprehensive Account of the Utah Valley University Attack, the Aftermath, and America’s Response' was listed for sale on Amazon

The appearance of a book claiming to give information about the assassination of Charlie Kirk before it took place has caused shock and confusion online.

The 69 page Kindle volume, titled 'The Shooting of Charlie Kirk: A Comprehensive Account of the Utah Valley University Attack, the Aftermath, and America’s Response' was listed for sale on Amazon. The blurb states: “On September 10, 2025, the campus of Utah Valley University was forever changed. During a scheduled event featuring Charlie Kirk, the prominent conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, a shocking act of violence unfolded that shook students, faculty, and the nation.”

But what has caused confusion and suspicion online is the publication date, which was listed as September 9, the day before the shooting took place. Despite Amazon removing the book from the platform, what they described as a 'technical issue' meant that the September 9 publishing date was still seen by users across the web before the title was pulled, sparking questions and conspiracy theories.

The book’s appearance online has sparked a slew of comments, with reviews on the website expressing their shock and disbelief. A review by Denise said of the book “this is very odd,” she wrote: “How was this published on September 9th 2025 when this didn't happen until September 10th 2025? He was shot and killed on September 10th 2025!”

Another review from Hope titled simply “How” read: “How was this published before this is crazy”. Conspiracies have abounded in the wake of the books publication, with some questioning how the author, listed as Anastasia J. Casey, could have known about the shooting before it happened.

“Was the person writing this involved in the shooting?” asked one review by user Julpuppy. “It was published September 9, but the shooting happened September 10. That is is crazy! Something weird going on here.”

Speculation spilled out from the reviews section onto social media with an X (formerly Twitter ) post by @EscanorReloaded featuring a screenshot of the book, which has since been taken down by Amazon, stating: “Book published September 9th, a full day before the actual shooting.”

In a followup post the user said it was possible to backdate books published on Amazon: “When you select “My book was previously published” and enter an older publication date, Amazon doesn’t require you to upload proof (like ISBN registration records, contracts, or copyright filings) at the setup stage.”

However he raised other questions, saying: “But here is where it gets tricky: When a book is submitted there is a 3-10 day turnaround before it posts to Amazon. Audio book was available on 9/9/25 This means it was submitted at least 3 days PRIOR.”

Amazon has issued a response blaming “technical issues” for the “incorrect” date of publication on the title. The company said in a statement: “We have content guidelines governing which books can be listed for sale, and we remove books that do not adhere to these guidelines. The title in question is no longer available for sale.

“Due to a technical issue, the date of publication that had been displayed for this title, while it was briefly listed, was incorrect, and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused. The title was published late in the afternoon on September 10th.”
