Donald Trump spotted sternly waving finger at Melania in awkward conversation
The US President and First Lady were caught supposedly having an argument as they flew back to Washington DC after a chaotic day at the United Nations
Donald and Melania Trump appeared to be caught rowing when the President was spotted waving his finger at his wife while she shook her head at him.
The couple were seen having their awkward conversation on Marine One, the US President's helicopter, as they returned from an explosive day at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The President, 79, was seen - through the window of Marine One - pointing at the First Lady, 55, as they talked sitting opposite each other, on Wednesday night.
The pair were then seen getting off the helicopter and holding hands as they walked across the South Lawn and into The White House, in a different display to how they appeared to be caught on Marine One.
The President made a fiery claim at the UN on Wednesday that he and his wife had been victims of "triple sabotage" after a row over an escalator broke out. Donald and Melania walked into the UN building but an escalator stopped working when they got on.
The Commander-in-chief used this as an opportunity to blast the UN as he claimed the incident could have been dangerous and injured the Trumps.
Donald said it was "amazing that Melania and I didn't fall forward onto the sharp edges of these steel steps, face first. It was only that we were each holding the handrail tightly or, it would have been a disaster".
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed UN staff had joked about switching off the escalator when the President and First Lady got on it as a prank. The Republican President hit out further at the escalator incident calling it "absolutely sabotage". Trump also said: "The people that did it should be arrested!"
Donald and Melania married in 2005 and have one child together - Barron Trump - but the First Lady has often appeared disgruntled with her husband and her role at the head of US politics.
The former model has been seen often swatting her husbands hand away when he reaches out to grab hers and has been accused of wearing unusually large brimmed hats to stop her husband from planting a kiss on her face.
Donald Trump recently gave marriage advise to Emmanuel Macron after shocking footage showed the French President's wife appearing to slap him during a heated argument, moments before the couple disembarked a plane for a visit to Vietnam.
Trump, when asked about the incident on Fox News, said: "Make sure the door remains closed. That was not good." The US President added: "I spoke to him. He's fine. They're fine. They're two really good people.
"I know him very well, and I don't know what that was all about. But I know him very well, and they're fine."
