Nottingham Forest next manager odds as Ange Postecoglou axed after just 39 days in charge

Nottingham Forest have sacked head coach Ange Postecoglou after just 39 days in charge of the club, and a number of proven managers have been linked with succeeding the Europa League-winner

Sean Dyche, Marco Silva and Jose Mourinho are among the top contenders to take over the reins at Nottingham Forest. It comes after the ruthless dismissal of Ange Postecoglou.

The Greek boss didn't manage to secure a single victory in his eight-game stint with Forest, lasting a mere 39 days at the City Ground before he was given his marching orders on Saturday, straight after a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on home turf.

Consequently, the bookies have already started speculating about who might be next to try and turn things around in the Midlands. According to Betfair, Dyche is currently the favourite to replace Postecoglou in the near future, with odds of 4/5.

The Englishman has been jobless since his departure from Everton in January, but Forest may have a soft spot for him as he's a product of their academy from his playing days. Silva is the next favoured manager to take up the post at the club, with odds of 4/1.

The 48-year-old has been at Fulham since 2021, but rumours earlier this year suggested that he was discontented at Craven Cottage due to a lacklustre transfer window. Meanwhile, Mourinho is priced at 12/1 to make a switch to the City Ground in the coming days, reports Nottinghamshire Live.

The ex-Chelsea and Manchester United boss only joined Benfica last month on a two-year contract, however, the chances of him cutting short his time in his homeland seem slim at present.

Danny Rohl is also in the running, with Betfair offering odds of 14/1. The German manager is currently without a club after leaving Sheffield Wednesday in July.

He was most recently linked with a move to Rangers following the dismissal of Russell Martin, but he has since withdrawn his application. Betfair spokesperson James Mackie stated: "Sean Dyche is the early 4/5 favourite to become the next Nottingham Forest manager after Ange Postecoglou was sacked on Saturday.

"Marco Silva trails Dyche at 4/1, with Jose Mourinho 12/1 to take charge. Meanwhile, Danny Rohl is amongst the outsiders at 14/1 to rescue the Reds' season."
