Five PGA Tour winners who could defect to LIV Golf with stars 'in talks' over switch
LIV Golf are reportedly in talks with a pair of recent PGA Tour event winners as they endeavour to fill their golfing roster ahead of the rival circuit's next season
LIV Golf are allegedly in talks with two recent PGA Tour winners regarding joining the breakaway league. There are currently six roster spots left to fill ahead of LIV's upcoming season.
According to reports, in an effort to bolster their credibility, the Saudi-backed circuit are in conversation with a pair of Tour title winners. They haven't been named, but this could refer to a number of current stars.
These talks are said to be in the early stages, but as rumours swirl, fans are eager to find out just who might be jumping ship. Mirror Sport takes a look at some recent event winners whom LIV could coax.
Steven Fisk
American Steven Fisk won his first PGA title since turning pro in 2019 earlier this month and could be one of the duo in talks with LIV, as reported by Golf Digest.
Fisk beat out Garrick Higgo to win the Sanderson Farms Championship during the first week of October. He only earned this tour card last year and had only tasted victory once before, on the Korn Ferry Tour.

For winning the event, Fisk also qualified for next year's PGA Championship and this would not change if he were to join LIV.
This win would mean that he would be able to keep his tour card until the end of the 2027 season, however. Fisk would also miss out on a spot at the Players Championship if he were to make the switch.
J.J. Spaun
LIV are renowned for targeting major winners and this year Ryder Cup ace J.J. Spaun took a considerable step when claiming the US Open. Before this season, Spaun had won just once on the Tour at the 2022 Valero Texas Open.
He started the campaign well and narrowly lost out to Rory McIlroy at The Players. But during a tricky renewal of the US Open at Oakmont, he prevailed to land a major prize.
Spaun was also defeated by Justin Rose at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in a play-off. He earned his Ryder Cup debut a month later after qualifying automatically.
If LIV want to make a splash then Spaun could be the ideal candidate. He would join Team USA team-mate Bryson DeChambeau on the circuit, who made a similar switch in 2022 two years after he won the US Open for the first time.
Cameron Young
Another Team USA Ryder Cup star who could be targeted is Cameron Young. The 28-year-old enjoyed a stellar US Open, finishing T4, but went one step further at the Wyndham Championship in August.
Young claimed his first Tour title at Sedgefield and took home just over £1m for the victory. This was a long-awaited title as he had come close in a handful of events since his 2022 rookie season.
His Ryder Cup bow was an impressive one and LIV could look to add another American ace to their ranks. This move would require a U-turn though as Young has previously shut down rumours linking him to the breakaway circuit.
Sepp Straka
Austrian star Sepp Straka represented Team Europe at the Ryder Cup and earned his third and fourth PGA Tour wins this year. Most recently was his Truist Championship success.
This win came in May and secured Straka a whopping £2.7m in prize money. The 32-year-old seems rather settled on Tour, but it could be a Ryder Cup peer who attempts to persuade him.
Jon Rahm defected to LIV in 2024 and heads up the Legion XIII GC team. Both the Spaniard and Team Europe's Tyrrell Hatton are members and with a vacancy, he could attempt to lure in Straka to fill out their roster.
Chris Gotterup
American ace Chris Gotterup only turned pro in 2022 but has had a breakout over the last 12 months. He won the Myrtle Beach Classic in 2024 and added the Genesis Scottish Open to his collection back in July.
Holding off Masters champ McIlroy was no mean feat when he ventured across the pond. He also played impeccably at the British Open, almost doubling his total Tour winnings in a two-week period.
If LIV want to snap up what seems to be a rising star then Gotterup would be the perfect candidate. He currently sits as the world No. 26, having been ranked outside the top 150 before his Scottish Open win.
