Jack Draper splits with coach due to 'family reason' just days after appointing Andy Murray ally

British No.1 Jack Draper has split with his coach of four years, James Trotman, just a week after hiring Sir Andy Murray’s old coach, Jamie Delgado

Jack Draper has split from his coach of four years, James Trotman. Under Trotman's guidance, Draper clinched three ATP Tour titles, including Indian Wells, reached the semi-finals of the 2024 US Open, and climbed to No.4 in the world rankings.

However, the British tennis coach has chosen to step back to focus on his family. Draper had to cut short his 2025 season due to an arm injury. The British No.1 only played one official match after Wimbledon, making it to the second round of the US Open before withdrawing from the tournament.

He brought on board Andy Murray's ex-coach, Jamie Delgado, just nine days ago. Earlier this month, news broke that Jamie Delgado, former coach of Murray and Grigor Dimitrov, had joined Draper's team.

Delgado was already expected to spend most weeks on tour with Draper, although there was still thought to be a role for Trotman in the camp.

However, Trotman, who has two young children, doesn't believe he can provide what the world No.9 needs while dedicating more time to his own family.

But he will always be considered part of the team, and Draper expressed his appreciation for his long-time coach.

The Brit is set to return to competition at the UTS London event in December, with Delgado as his head coach. Draper won the Patrick Mouratoglou-founded tournament in 2023 before going on to secure his first two ATP Tour titles the following year.

Delgado joined forces with Murray in May 2016 and spent five years coaching the tennis star, who went on to have the most successful season of his career, clinching his second Wimbledon title, defending his Olympic gold medal in singles, and finishing the year as world No. 1.

Recently, Delgado spent three years coaching former world No. 3 Dimitrov. During their partnership, Dimitrov claimed his first title in over six years at the Brisbane International, reached two Masters 1000 finals, and made a comeback to the world's top 10.

However, Dimitrov suffered a devastating injury at Wimbledon this summer while leading top seed Jannik Sinner by two sets in the fourth round. The Bulgarian player retired in tears and hasn't played a match since.

He ended his partnership with Delgado last month. Delgado isn't the only ex-member of Murray's team to join Draper's crew. Earlier this season, British No.1 Draper recruited Shane Annun and Matt Little, Murray's former physio and fitness coach.
