iPhone upgrade we've been waiting for may arrive soon - just don't look at the price

Apple could be planning to launch a stunning new iPhone and it might be their most expensive yet.

Almost every Android manufacturer in the world - including Samsung, OnePlus, Google and Motorola - now makes bendy smartphones that can fold in half. These devices have become pretty popular with owners getting huge screens that, once snapped in half - are then easier to pop in their pockets.

Despite the rise in competition and phone fans clearly enjoying this new technology, Apple's lineup of iPhone devices still remains free from any sort of foldables.

Rumours have been rife for a while that the US technology giant could be working on a flippable device, but details about its features, price, and launch date have remained scarce.

Now, some new information may hint at what could be coming from the labs in Cupertino, California, and a launch of this smartphone might not be that far away.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has had things right in the past, the bendy iPhone may arrive as soon as 2026, which means there might be just over a year to wait.

Kuo also says he expects the new device to feature a book-style design like Samsung's Galaxy Fold range. Once opened, users could then get a massive 7.8-inch display to watch movies on, work and play games.

Some think Apple will also want to make sure this huge screen doesn't suffer the same crease issue found on some current foldables.

Other extras could include a very thin titanium design, long battery life and a dual-lens rear camera.

Kuo also thinks Apple ditch Face ID unlocking technology and revert back to Touch ID in a bid to keep the thickness down to a minimum.

It's all exciting stuff, but it could come at a very high price.

Kuo reckons Apple's first generation of foldable iPhones could cost anywhere up to £2,500 (£1,940) - ouch!

It seems unlikely that Apple will reveal anything this September when the iPhone 17 gets shown to the world but maybe 2026 will be the year Apple finally takes on its Android rivals.
