Apple leak new iPhone names as XS, XR and XS Max

Hidden code on the Apple website contained references that gave away the new iPhone names

Apple has inadvertently revealed the names of the new iPhones ahead of their launch later today.

Hidden website code has revealed that the names will be iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR.

The discovery was made because an update to Apple's online store contained some code which was spotted by tech website ATH . The information is part of Apple's shop sitemap and wouldn't have been obvious to most people visiting the site.

Also revealed were details about cases to protect the XS and XS Max. There doesn't seem to have been information about other rumoured products. These are said to include a new Apple Watch, an affordable Macbook and new iPad Pro.

So it seems the rumours were true, we're due three new phones later today.

The iPhone XS will be much like last year's iPhone X . The size of the device, screen and styling haven't changed much but there is expected to be a performance boost.

Apple's new iPhone XS Max will feature a 6.5-inch OLED screen and will, if rumours are correct, be available with as much as 512GB of storage built-in.

It's expected that the iPhone XR will be the "budget" offering. Likely to cost around the same as the iPhone 8 did last year. It's rumoured to feature a single camera and a cheaper LCD screen than the OLED models found in the iPhone X.

More rumours suggest that the XR will have a dual-sim socket in some regions like India and China. A large number of people in these countries use two numbers and supporting the feature could help sales in regions where Apple has less market share.
