Motorola's Razr 40 which rivals Samsung's foldable ZFlip5 has £300 off this week

One highstreet retailer has cut hundreds of pounds off the Motorola Razr 40, and it folds in half just like a rival from Samsung, but this is a lot cheaper

Motorola's Razr 40 made headlines last year for its huge displays and flippable models, while high-end rivals launched its Galaxy Z Flip5 models this impressive handset has always been a top budget buy, without scrimping on quality. Now, one retailer has gone a step further by taking a huge £300 off the price.

It's all thanks to Currys' current bank holiday sale, where the price has dropped from £799 down to a much cheaper £499. It's still a lot to pay upfront but when you consider its rival, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, starts at £1,149 it's a deal worth saving.

This makes the Motorola Razr40 is a huge £650 cheaper than the Galaxy Z Flip5, and why we have to be honest and say Samsung's enhanced AI features and mega cameras make it 'set the bar' for foldable smartphones, here at Mirror Tech we can't ignore this Motorola Razr 40 deal for smaller budget shoppers.

We've also spotted the £300 discount on the Razr 40 over at John Lewis, in the same three colourways up for grabs at Currys. No matter where you buy you'll be able to choose between its Sage Green colourway, Lilac, or Vanilla Cream.

The main selling point of the phone has to be its eye-catching flippable display, it can be opened out from a small, square, and pocketable device into a large screen-sized phone. Compared to the flagship Galaxy ZFlip5 it's easy to spot that the Razr 40 lacks the small display window when closed, but it does have an interactive external display.

This means that when the phone is shut you'll be able to stay up to date on messages and social media pings. The large 6.9-inch display screen (when flipped out) has a sturdy pOLED screen, there's Dolby Atmos hidden inside for extra sound quality, and its dual main camera set-up puts it on par for photography fans - there really is a lot packed in considering the price.

The mega £300 offer comes just days after Motorola surprised fans with a sparkly new handset, with its Edge 50 Series. Made up of the Edge 50 Ultra, Edge 50 Pro and the Edge 50 Fusion all offer something a little bit different for users. Another Motorola deal, on the Edge 50 Pro, caught our eye, and you can get it for just £24 a month, as well as a pair of the brand's AirPod-rivalling wireless earphones for free.

At £24.99, and an initial £9 upfront fee, and you'll be fixed into a set 24-month plan for the 512GB handset and a monthly data allowance of 500GB using the iD Mobile network - this also comes with unlimited UK text and calls. Not to mention a £129 pair of Moto Buds+ is thrown in for free.
