The airline with the most uncomfortable seats is named - and it's not Ryanair

The airline with the worst seats has been revealed - it has tiny seat pitches, limited leg room, and an ultra compact overhead storage space - and it's not what you might expect

It’s easy to assume that all economy airline seats are of the same calibre, but it turns out that some are far more uncomfortable than others.

Not only are some seats less comfortable, but they also offer a smaller amount of legroom, making for an even more agonising journey. Whether you’re flying a short distance or are planning a longer haul flight, you want to know that your flight is going to be comfortable.

Yahoo! reported that in The Points Guys - a media platform that focuses on maximising travel experiences while keeping costs low - eighth annual Best Airlines Report, Allegiant Airlines was named the worst airline in regards to the seat experience that it offers travellers, as well as being the ‘most sufferable in the areas of timeliness, cancellations, family accommodations, and frequent flyer perks’.

According to the Daily Mail, frequent flyer and YouTuber Jeb Brooks, who rated all the worst airline seats in a video last year, the budget airline offers seat pitches of 24-inches, with 11 inches of legroom and a shoulder width of 15 inches, making them some of the most compact seats on the market.

While the American airline only offers flights in the US and Canada it is stationed at 117 airports, offering daily flights.

Second in line to Allegiant Airlines for worst plane seats in The Points Guys' report was American airline Frontier - another budget-friendly US airline offering low-cost economy seats. With seat pitches of 28-inches, Frontier’s seats aren’t that much larger than those offered by Allegiant.

While Spirit was ranked as the third worst airline for plane seats in terms of traveller comfort. Their plane seat pitches are also 28-inches and they can’t recline, meaning that travellers are stuck sitting in one position for the entirety of their flight.
