Netflix fans are so hyped as show 'better than Squid Game' comes out tomorrow
Netflix fans have shared their delight as they countdown the hours until season 3 of a popular series drops after a long, three year wait - with many anticipating a strong storyline
Netflix subscribers are counting down the days until a new season of Alice in Borderland drops on the steaming service after a three year wait. The thriller, which has been described as "better than Squid Games" follows a gamer and his friends in a parallel Tokyo, where they're forced to complete in a series of sadistic games to survive.
Based on manga graphic novel, the show stars Kento Yamazaki, Tao Tsuchiya, and Nijirô Murakami - and is considered to be an 'underdog' by some Netflix users. Speaking about the new season, one fan said on Reddit: "Cannot wait, loved the Manga, love the show. I am happy it's back again."
Another user added: "I'll also very much be looking forward to see if this one of the few shows that can break the divisive ending curse among TV show's - Games of Thrones, The Walking Dead and recently Squid Game.
"Funny how three big Netflix shows end this year; Squid Game, Stranger Things and this show."
A third user said: "I don’t know. I liked how the ending of the first seasons went down and went for full closure. Not sure I’ll watch a new season and get disappointed if it turns out badly."
Elsewhere, on TikTok, users compared the show to Squids Game, with one user saying: "It's much better". Meanwhile, another added: "The series is unreal. I watched it for the first time last year and it quickly become one of my favourites."
What to expect
Alice in Borderland Season 3 will be available worldwide on September 25, only on Netflix.
In Season 3, Usagi is taken to the Borderland, and Arisu follows to save her.
The two are separated and must each join other participants to take on the deadly games.
Kento Yamazaki, who plays Arisu, said: "Since Arisu and Usagi are split into separate teams, I found it interesting to see the different atmospheres and character dynamics within each group.
"Over the seasons, the characters have become so beloved by fans, and I think that’s why the audience can really empathize with them during the life-or-death moments."
Tao Tsuchiya, who portrays Yuzuha, added: "Everything Usagi has experienced in the past seasons is now part of her story, so whenever I needed to, I would go back and rewatch Seasons 1 and 2.
"With Season 3 featuring an original story, I felt it was important to approach this role with everything that’s happened so far in mind."
This season features the most impactful games yet, surpassing even those of previous seasons.
