American Horror Story boss teases season 13 will arrive 'sooner than you think' as he hints at returning stars

Ryan Murphy's hit horror anthology series American Horror Story has been renewed for at least one more season, with the 13th outing potentially returning at the start of next year

Ryan Murphy, the mastermind behind American Horror Story, has hinted that the next season of his cult horror anthology will be gracing our screens "sooner than you think".

Having just concluded its 12th run, subtitled Delicate and featuring none other than Kim Kardashian, the FX series bids farewell to its April slot.

For one of the first times since the show's inception in 2011, fans won't have a September or October premiere to look forward to in 2024, marking a break from tradition.

But fear not, the TV maestro is never short on creativity and teases that he'll be revisiting his most cherished creation very shortly.

Yet, the anticipation comes against the backdrop of significant controversy spurred by his latest Netflix venture, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, which has provoked fiery reactions from its real-world counterparts, reports the Express.

After a stellar collaboration with Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts for the 12th instalment, Murphy has dropped hints about some fan-favourites making a comeback.

In his conversation with the Hollywood Reporter, Murphy revealed he "was talking to Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters about that the other day".

With both stars being staples in nine seasons but missing since 2021's Double Feature, their potential return is a buzz-generator for the fandom.

Fine details on the upcoming chapter remain elusive, though Murphy has shown interest in reacquainting audiences with familiar faces, including possibly the witches from the third season's Coven, who already made a reappearance in Apocalypse, season eight.

The future could potentially be set for Sarah's comeback, though its just as feasible that she might assume a totally new persona within an entirely fresh narrative.

Recently, Murphy has been subject to scrutiny, accused of twisting facts in his portrayal of Lyle and Erik Menendez killing of their parents in the contentious new Netflix miniseries, Monsters.

Compounding the controversy, Murphy conceded that he harbours "no interest in talking to [the Menendez brothers]", resulting in further criticism.

In conversation with Variety, he elaborated: "It's very good that Cooper has a relationship with them, and I'm very close, obviously, with Kim Kardashian, who has spoken to them."

Murphy expressed his admiration, stating: "I love Kim, and I believe she does God's work. I believe in prison reform. I believe in everything she believes in. I don't know what I would say to them. What would I ask them? I know what their perspective is."

He continued to clarify his stance, emphasising that his duty is not to play advocate to Lyle and Erik but rather to share his artistic viewpoint on a story, stating: "I believe in justice, but I don't believe in being a part of that machine."

"That's not my job. My job as an artist was to tell a perspective on a particular story. I feel I've done that, but I wish them well."
