Antiques Roadshow star supported by fans after health update amid terminal diagnosis

An Antiques Roadshow star who was diagnosed with an aggressive grade 4 glioblastoma has spoken out on social media in a health update

Antiques Roadshow star, Theo Burrell, has bravely shared her latest terminal cancer update.

The Edinburgh-based auctioneer, who shot to fame on BBC's Antiques Roadshow in 2018, was diagnosed with an aggressive grade 4 glioblastoma in 2022 after suffering from symptoms such as nausea and headaches the previous year.

Despite her diagnosis, Theo has been tirelessly raising awareness for brain cancer research, engaging with researchers, politicians, and members of the brain tumour community.

In a recent heartfelt social media post, she revealed that she's had a "tough time" with chemotherapy.

She wrote: "A couple of weeks ago I got the news that my scans continue to be clear!

"There are no active cancer cells rearing their ugly heads, and Temozolomide continues to do its job. I'm extremely lucky to have gotten to this stage, with this news.

"However, despite the positive update I've had an extremely tough time on cycle 10 of chemotherapy, following a small visual seizure.

"The combination of the two had me in bed for days on end, with new side effects which challenged me both mentally and physically. My plans to visit @lillyputbakery were postponed as were many other get togethers with friends.

"It's been draining and even though I'm so close to completing my treatment plan, the thought of any more chemo is making me miserable. I'm going to give cycle 11 a go and see how I get on," reports the Express.

"So this is a bit of a mixed message - of good news and moans! I'm sending all my friends in the brain tumour community good luck and stable scans. One day at a time, right?"

Theo has been inundated with messages of support from her followers, who have sent her uplifting words.

One fan wrote: "You are a warrior Theo our community is so blessed to have you as an ambassador. As always you inspire me on my journey."

Another follower added: "Definitely one day at a time. The bad days will come, but so will the good...keep focusing on the good days."

A third echoed similar sentiments: "So much about this horrible thing is a mix of emotions. A clear scan is amazing but it also doesn't mean other issues aren't happening alongside. Sending you love and light Theo, you're doing so well."

Theo, a specialist auctioneer in fine furniture and artwork, was left "devastated" when she discovered her diagnosis while her son was just one year old.
