Awkward moment Susanna Reid doesn't realise her GMB co-star was on I'm A Celebrity
Susanna Reid had something of an awkward moment when she was sitting alongside Ed Balls on Good Morning Britain and failed to realise their co-star had been I'm A Celebrity
Susanna Reid had something of an awkward moment on Tuesday morning's Good Morning Britain. The presenter, 54, was back in her usual slot alongside co-host Ed Balls and they were joined by comedian Melvin Odoom for the showbiz roundup.
After discussing Keira Knightley and Guy Ritchie's latest film project, Melvin launched into the list of big names who will be seen heading to South Africa for the all-stars edition of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! The format sees a whole host of previous contestants head back into the survival programme, and two years ago was won by Myleene Klass.
This time round, former winners like Harry Redknapp and Scarlett Moffatt, alongside other legendary campmates like Sinitta and Gemma Collins will be going back into the jungle. When he finished rhyming off the names, Melvin quipped: "And me!"
After confirming that it was just a joke, Susanna asked Melvin if he had even been in the regular edition of the programme, completely forgetting that he starred alongside others like Danny Jones, Coleen Rooney and GK Barry in last year's trip down under. Incredulous, she said: "Did you do it last year?!"
She added: "Did they not ask you back?" but Melvin admitted: "No, no. I don't think they would ask me that soon anyway. And I was terrified, I cried after. I'm all right, I think once is enough!"
During his time in the jungle, Melvin famous revealed his admiration for Countdown star Carol Vorderman while in the I'm A Celebrity camp, picking a pillow with the former Loose Women anchor printed on it as his luxury item.
Months later, Melvin made it clear that she hasn’t brushed him off yet, and that he had a master plan to finally secure a date.
Speaking to the Mirror at the TV Choice Awards, Melvin blasted claims that Carol had “ghosted” him on Instagram. “She didn’t ghost me! I don’t know where this - she just hasn’t read my message yet!
"There’s this rumour going around that she ghosted me,” he jokingly protested. The DJ then gushed over Carol, and shared that he had complete faith she’d get in touch with him when the time’s right.
“Carol’s a lovely lady. I just want to put that in black and white right now. She is a wonderful lady, she’s hardworking, and she’s busy out here trying to look after people and take care of them," he said. “She ain’t got time to look at my DMs every five seconds! So when she sees it, I’m sure she’ll read it… when she’s ready.”
Ant and Dec will once again be on hand to put the celebrities through bushtucker trials and other grisly tasks. Other stars rounding up the lie-up are Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas, who initially competed in 2016.
Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts, who originally went Down Under more than a decade ago and finished runner-up behind EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks.
Coronation Street stars Craig Charles and Beverley Callard, known for their respective roles as Lloyd Mullaney and Liz McDonald, will also be making a return to the jungle, alongist Jimmy Bullard, David Haye and Sir Mo Farah.
