An exciting new clip has been unveiled for forthcoming TV series Gotham and it’s the most insightful yet.

Showcasing the super-villains of the fictional city that Batman will later govern, the clip shows the series will be packed full of nuggets for those who enjoy the tales of the Dark Knight.

“Gotham is a story about the origins of the great DC Comics super-villains and how they came to be. Catwoman, The Riddler, Penguin, Poison Ivy. What made The Joker The Joker? How Scarecrow became Scarecrow,” says writer and executive producer Bruno Heller.

“A lot of what this show is about is the relationship with a young Gordon and a young Bruce Wayne.”

In the trailer above Ben McKenzie - who plays a young Commissioner Gordon, simply known as rookie Detective James Gordon in the series - and Fish Mooney actress Jada Pinkett Smith also reveal a lot more on their characters.

They also show you longer glimpses of the young Bruce Wayne, Catwoman, The Riddler, Penguin and Poison Ivy. McKenzie (Southland, The O.C.) says he can’t wait until it’s out there.

McKenzie adds: “I can’t wait for people to see this.”
