Big Brother fans in shock as loved-up couple get engaged live on air

Will Best was left in shock when a couple from his studio audience on Big Brother Late & Live got engaged and singer Chesney Hawkes rushed to offer himself a a wedding singer

Will Best was left in shock when a couple from his studio audience on Big Brother Late & Live got engaged. The TV star, 40, was back in his usual slot hosting the spin-off of Big Brother after the main show, which invites fans to share their views on the latest goings-on in the house, whilst a string of celebrity guests also form a panel.

On Tuesday night, Will took the microphone over to audience member Matt, and asked if he had something to say. He replied: "Yeah, I do actually." He pulled a ring from his pocket, got down on one knee and popped the question to his boyfriend Tyler.

Immediately breaking down in tears, his partner accepted the proposal and they kissed as their fellow audience members cheered and Will shouted: "Oh my goodness! On your feet, everybody, come on!"

Over all the excitement, he managed to chat to the happy couple and Matt explained that he has always been a big fan of Big Brother, so it felt the right place to ask his partner to marry him. Tyler, however, admitted that he has never watched the show to start with. Will then joked that he and his co-host AJ Odudu would be the celebrants on the big day.

Singer Chesney Hawkes, who was appearing on the panel following his stint on the celebrity edition of the programme earlier this year, offered to sing at the wedding and former housemate Kerry Riches asked if she could be a bridesmaid. Closing out the show, Will said: "Let's open a bottle of champagne because that is all we've got time for tonight. What an amazing way to end the show!"

Viewers at home were left equally shocked by the romantic moment, and flocked to social media to have their say. One wrote: "I did NOT just watch two people get engaged on Late and Live!"

Another said: "There’s just been a live proposal on Late & Live?! A couple in the audience literally just got engaged on the show!!!" and shared it alongside a GIF of current contestant Sam looking shocked. Another said: "oh my god someone just got engaged on late and live ts so camp I love it"

A third added: "I’m sorry but it’s so funny to get engaged on #bbll while you don’t even watch!"

Just prior to all this, it was announced that Feyisola, Nancy, Tate and Teja would face the vote in the next eviction - and this time, they actually will be leaving the house following a fake eviction that took place last week.

The night before that, during an exclusive clip from Big Brother's Late and Live, it was revealed that returning housemate Farida Khalifa had nominated Teja and Elsa. Explaining her reasoning for nominating the later, Farida said: “My second nomination is Elsa because her energy is completely focused on her romance.

"I’ve told her I’d like to see the true Elsa… her focus is on her showmance so we’re not actually getting to see the real Elsa, so what’s the point of her being here. Bored of the showmance.” Feyisola received four nominations from Caroline, Richard, Sam and Tate and Nancy also received four nominations from Cameron, Jenny, Marcus and Teja.

Teja also received four nominations from Caroline, Emily, Farida and Nancy.

Caroline, Emily and Farida however, were immune from being nominated. As fans witnessed last week, Caroline had bought two weeks of immunity from the shop with her eye currency. Elsewhere, Farida and Emily were immune, seeing as they're new housemates - although Sam didn't receive the same privilege after returning. However, fans aren't best pleased.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: "Everyone besides Sam and Nancy who we would want to face eviction are immune. They @ITVX are really trying to ruin this season."

Another said: "well that’s just great that you made both emily and caroline immune so we have to deal with them for at least two more weeks thanks," while a third said: "It's actually so unfair that Emily and Farida will be immune from next week's eviction but Sam won't be. Either make all three immune or none of them."
