Great British Bake Off host spent thousands after doing 'so many drugs'

A Great British Bake Off presenter has opened up about a drug-induced spending spree during an appearance on Never Mind the Buzzcocks

Noel Fielding revealed he once impuslively spent thousands while under the influence of "so many drugs" in a teaser clip for an upcoming episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

Noel, 52, who fronts The Great British Bake Off with Alison Hammond, appears on Tuesday's (21 October) episode of the hit Sky programme, which is a special 80s-themed edition.

The Mighty Boosh star sits alongside Jamali Maddix, Judi Love, Pepsi & Shirlie, Martin Fry and Debbie Gibson on the panel, while Taskmaster's Greg Davies is on hosting duties.

In the clip, exclusively obtained by Metro, Noel says: "Greg, I did so many drugs once at a party, that the next day, someone knocked on the door and I bought two stone baboons for six grand."

He then adds: "I was like, what the f*** am I gonna do with them? How much? Six grand."

Noel's confession prompts laughter from his co-stars and the audience, with host Greg then asking him what he did with the stone baboons.

"Well they look quite good, they’re in my house," Noel revealed. "I have no recollection of buying them."

Noel rose to fame as part of The Mighty Boosh comedy troupe in the 2000s, before appearing on numerous Channel 4 programmes, including Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy.

He joined Never Mind the Buzzcocks as a team captain in 2009, initially appearing until 2015 and then taking the role over again in 2021.

Most will now recognise him from The Great British Bake Off, which he began hosting back in 2017 alongside Sandi Toksvig, with Matt Lucas eventually taking over, followed by current co-host Alison Hammond.

Alison and Noel are back on TV screens with the latest series of Bake Off, which stars Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood as judges.

The quarter-final is due to air on Tuesday (21 October), with just five bakers left out of the original 12 facing Dessert Week, a firm favourite among die-hard Bake Off fans.

The quarter-finalists take on the challenge of a Basque-style cheesecake and a gluten-free sponge, with a free-standing trifle being on the menu in the showstopper.

Another baker will lose their spot on the show in the elimination, leaving four contestants to enter next week's semi-final.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks airs on Tuesday at 9pm on Sky Max and NOW. The Great British Bake Off airs on Tuesday on Channel 4 at 8pm.
