Celebrity Traitors 'missing' from show as wife sends baffled text
Celebrity Traitors is heading into its third week of the competition and with just 13 stars remaining on the show, one particular star has revealed why he's getting more airtime
Celebrity Traitors star Joe Wilkinson has revealed his theory as to why he's being featured more on the hit BBC show after 'hiding' from the cameras earlier in the series. The stand-up comedian is one of the 13 remaining stars on the reality competition, attempting to hunt down the three Traitors among them.
Joe has been appearing more in recent episodes, with the comic teaming up with ex rugby player Joe Marler to share their theories on who the Traitors could be. However, Joe revealed on his podcast that his wife Petra texted to ask why he was hardly in the series.
Chatting on their podcast Chatabix, co-host David Earl told him: You're in the show more now. How does that feel?"
To which Joe said: "I didn't think I was. I'll send you a text from Petra, 'Are you hiding?'"
As David pointed out that he reckons Celebrity Traitors are setting Joe up for a bigger story in the coming episodes, Joe said: "Well, I think it's more what I said was useful to the thing."
He added that up until now, him and Joe Marler had were "together a lot chatting a lot but just d**king about".
"Yeah if I saw two people dicking about, I'd say get off my screen. It's true for this - you want the game," David quipped, with Joe confirming: "Well, that's why we're not in it.
"We said a critical thing. Well, Joe did. I'm just saying why we're in it more."
Joe previously spoke out about the show's strict security measures, revealing that he initially refused to let production staff search through his bags when he arrived on set.
Last week, he claimed that bosses insisted on searching his bags to check that illegal substances or record devices had not been brought onto set. He said on his podcast: "This man said, 'I’m going to go through your bag'. I was like, 'I don’t think you are, pal'. All the producers came.
"I was like, 'You’re going to have to trust me,' but they were like, 'Well, you have signed up to this, you p***k', and I was like, 'OK, carry on.'"
He added that the staff were "polite" and that it was "fine in the end". His co-star Mark Bonnar spoke about his own experience, saying: "There’s six people in your room as soon as you’ve checked in, and they’re going through every item of your luggage.
"Just to check you haven’t got any secret recording equipment or illegal drugs. We’re celebrities—we wouldn’t do drugs!"
Celebrity Traitors continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
