Coleen Rooney reignites Wagatha Christie feud in new TV advert

Coleen Rooney has reignited her public feud with Rebekah Vardy in a Paddy Power advert starring Danny Dyer and The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins

Coleen Rooney has taken a veiled swipe at her arch nemesis Rebekah Vardy in a TV advert for Paddy Power. This comes after Coleen, 39, was embroiled in a bitter legal battle with the wife of footballer Jamie Vardy who took Coleen to court after it was alleged Rebekah had leaked stories to the press.

At the time, Coleen was dubbed Wagatha Christie due to her detective skills in finding out who had been the culprit behind press gaining an insight into her personal and private Instagram account.

After a while on eliminating those around her, Coleen posted a message saying: "It’s . . . Rebekah Vardy’s account."

Danny Dyer, who features in the advert is seen receiving text message after he questions who had left a glass of prosecco on his casino table.

The text read: "It's Gemma Collins", which is in reference to the infamous social media post made by Coleen. The moment Danny received the text, Coleen is seen turning to the camera and winking. And it's at this point Gemma is seen saying: "Have a day off love."

Addressing her role on the advert, Gemma explained: "Let me tell you something, this ad is pure glamour, and did you see the dress, that gorgeous number came home with me! Paddy Power Games went all out with this one, it felt like being on a Hollywood set – lights, camera, casino!"

She added: "I had the best time living my best life at that craps table. It’s bold, it’s fun, and it’s got The GC written all over it!" Other celebrities in the gambling advert include former premiere league footballer Peter Crouch.

And Coleen Rooney said: "I’ve been watching the same game almost my entire life, so it’s nice to have a bit of variety for once, and being back with the Paddy Power crew to film such a glamourous ad was brilliant."

She added: "I loved getting dressed up and stepping into the madness of a Paddy Power casino world – Danny played the role of casino boss perfectly, plus I got to reprise my role as head of investigations….what more could you want!"

The legal case first kicked off in 2019 after Coleen was forced to defend herself against a multi-million court case. But Coleen won the court case and went on to take advantage of the win by appearing on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!

Rebekah was told by the court to pay Coleen £1.4million which was a reported 90 per cent of Coleen's legal costs, having lost the libel case. Soon after the case was settled, Coleen featured in her own Disney+ documentary titled Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story.
