Coronation Street fans fear for Swarla's future as Carla makes swift 'exit'

Coronation Street fans have been left feeling sorry for Carla Connor amid her ongoing drama with Lisa Swain and her wife Becky, who came back from the dead last month

Coronation Street fans have been left feeling sorry for Carla Connor amid her ongoing drama with Lisa Swain. The factory boss has been in a relationship with Lisa (Vicky Myers) for just under a year now, and they have gone on to become a social media sensation known as Swarla.

But fans will know that things have already been tested between the pair since Lisa's wife Becky came back from the dead. Lisa had believed that her wife, a fellow police officer, had been killed in the line of duty but shortly after she got engaged to Carla, this turned out to not be the case. It became apparent that Becky had been living in Spain after the force faked her death following her involvement with a crime gang.

Becky has been coming and going over recent weeks, and reconnecting her with daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) but on Monday's edition of the world's longest-running TV soap, Carla and her nephew Ryan (Ryan Prescott) had to make arrangements to travel to Ireland for a family funeral. While packing, Becky battered on the door at number six before letting herself in to find Carla packing in the living room.

When Becky learned that Lisa would be on her own for a while, she said: "Do you remember when we went to Dublin? Roaring fires, wild coastlines, it was dead romantic. Bon voyage!"

Carla was made visibly uncomfortable by this, and once Lisa sauntered back out, she said: "I tell you what. She does not miss a single opportunity to rub my face in it, does she?" Even though Lisa has constantly reassured Carla that she is not interested in Becky, the Underworld boss did not seem convinced.

Fans will remember that Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was one of the first outside the family unit that Becky was in fact alive, and Carla wasted no time in popping round to the café to enlist his help in the matter. She said: "I'm going to Ireland for a couple of weeks and I really need you to keep an eye on Lisa. And Becky. Just call round, say hi. See how it's doing and all that. Be subtle. Be casual. Casual."

Roy peppered Carla with all sorts of questions about the concept of lying, but clearly desperate, she added: "It's not Mission Impossible, just do what you can." After the scenes aired, fans immediately took to social media to express their concern for their favourite soap couple. One said: "Carla knows Becky's game, she's teetering on the edge of losing it and tbh she needs to...."

Another said: "Was so annoyed when Lisa let her barge past and then tells Becky Carla's going away for a couple of weeks," and a third said: "In this moment, Lisa truly believes nothing could ever come between them….but Carla… well, that’s another story." A

A fourth fan speculated: "My theory, Carla will be made to look like the crazy jealous b****, the more she voices her concerns, the more she'll push Lisa away. Carla is going to have to choose to stay or leave. Lisa will be torn between loyalty to Carla, the past with Becky her guilt over Betsy."

According to Corrie boss Kate Brooks, Carla has every reason to question Becky's game and what she's really like. Trust your gut Carla, because Becky is up to no good and we're about to find out just what she's capable of. With twists and turns ahead and a big storyline around Christmas, it seems the plot could be headed in a way not everyone has expected. Kate told The Mirror: "So Becky is a bit of a villain. She's come back and she knows what she wants.

"She wants her family back. She wants Betsy. She wants Lisa back. She wants to oust Carla from this very happy home life that she's created. So we are watching this story develop, and slowly we'll start to peel away the layers of Becky and who she is and what she's actually capable of.

"At the minute on screen, we've only really scratched the surface, but she is capable of many things. The thing that she's capable of doing the best is reminding Lisa of the life they had. They were together for a long time. They've got a child together. There's that history between them. There's that love there."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X. * Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .
